I have a 4 month old bulldog that was kicked by a neighbor, in the face, three days ago. The police came out and even though he admitted to kicking her, the police said they could not do anything. She went to the vet yesterday because she now has cherry eye in the eye she was kicked. The vet said that this normally happens when there is trauma from something or someone. I can't believe we can not do anything to this neighbor.
Yes there is something you can do. There will be a local court near you called municipal court. If you go there and talk to the Court Clerk, he or she will show you a list of laws and you can pick out the one that this person has broken. When you find it the Court Clerk will give you some papers to fill out and you can bring this person to court yourself. There will be a little trial before a judge where you tell the judge what happened and then the neighbor gets to say what happened and the judge will do something about it. I had to take a neighbor to court because he was trying to cut my tree down and build a fence on my property. Then I had a survey done and he pulled up the stakes. I took him to court and the judge told him that if he does anything more he will be fined and get community service. You don't need a lawyer. It's better if you don't have a lawyer and tell it in your own words. You can go to the police department and ask them for a copy of the police report about this. If there is not one then at least get a piece of paper that says that you called them about the problem so that the judge can see that this really happened. Also you need copies of the vet bills. This could take months to get to court but don't get discouraged.
Hi I'm Sue
I would find some way to bring justice. I would go to the courthouse like someone suggested & find a animal cruelity law or what ever. Maybe the judge will make that neighbor pay the vet bill and for whatever further care your pet needs. That is awful. Then people wonder why they get bit.
I saw a beautiful Rotweiler with red eyes and I asked the kid that owned him why is his eyes red and he said because the collar is was too tight. Is this true or was the dog also abused in the face? What could I have done about this if the dog was abused. It was not normal to see this poor dogs eyes that red. What can I do next time?
I thought cherry eye was where the entire eyelid was kind of deformed and very very red. I don't know for sure though. But allergies for sure cause my dog has bad allergies and his eyes get red. But the collar too tight! Oh come on I have never heard of such a thing. Heartworm is so bad that the dog will act really bad. I had a dog many many years ago with heartworm (got him from a shelter) and he was great one day, the next he was down. Anyway, we had to euthanize him he was so so sick and dying anyways, couldn't put him through that.
He said it was from the collar being too tight. I looked at the collar and it wasn't tight, so I don't know if someone did that and the kid adjusted it or the dog was like that from the beginning. I met him and the dog coming outside from Petsmart.
I highly doubt that this is the case, but if the dog is an imbreed at all then it's eyes being red are one of the things that happen.....but more than likely that's not it. Were his pupils red, or just the area around it like in the whites of his eyes?
I would talk to the owners about it, if they seem a little hostile or defensive then you could definitely call the police and see what they suggest? Our local law enforcement here has a special team for that kind of stuff maybe yours would too?
the white of his eyes were red like our eyes are when we have been crying. I don't know where he lives I just passed him by going into Petsmart one day. Thanks
Not sure where you live, but heartworms are just about everywhere. It could be that this rott has been infected with heartworms, in my experience at our local Humane Society, we could almost tell by looking at the eyes. The whites will redden noticeably when a dog is in the latter stages of heartworm infestation. Mostly with cherry eye, especially a case where both eyes are affected, I believe you would see more than just red in the whites of the eyes. There would be inflammtion and more than likely the dog would not be acting normally.
Thank you for all your kind words. I am hoping that if this goes to court that there is a place around here kind of like yours. I don't believe that the dog should pay for the owner's neglect. If there had been a way to discuss this after the firs...

Calm down? If I calmed down more than I was when I typed my responses, I'd be dead. Be prepared to answer questions if I copy paste? Sorry, not how I feel. I would much rather have members give me quotes and links so that I can look into things my...
