I recently purchased a chihuahua puppy that died 3 days afterwards from hydrocephalis. I contacted the breeder and she accused me of killing the puppy as she has never had any other puppies she has sold become ill or die. LIE. She won't return my calls and insists I signed a contract, which I never did.
I did some research and an immense amount of posting and stumbled upon way too many people that have purchased puppies as well as horses and birds that have died. Including my puppy's sibling. This "breeder", who is actually a broker for the Amish, sells dogs she knows are ill. I have had SO MANY people contact me that have had terrible experiences with her.
We are joining forces and trying to stop this woman. We already have filed with Vernon Co and Viroqua Police Dept. as well as the WI Dept. of Consumer Protections. Each of us are also filing small claims cases against her. I am wondering if anyone has any other suggestions as to what can be done to stop this woman.
I understand WI does not have lemon laws, but when someone is selling something, anything, they know is defective that cannot be legal. She posts her ads all over WI, IA, MN & IL and sells any kind of puppy you can think of. She has more enemies than you can imaine.

i was just wondering if when you purchased the puppy if you were given a health certificate? here in florida, breeders are required to have a health certificate signed by a liscensed vet valid for thirty days.

I was given nothing, but a shot record. Unfortunatly WI has no requirements of any sort for breeders.

Without actually knowing who the woman is, some people may not even know what was going on. I hope for your sake, as well as the animals, she does prison time, as well as paying everyone back. I think that would be considered a form of animal abuse, putting an animal under the duress it causes during the relocating, and new home adjustment. Animal Abuse is a felony here in MI. If every case you charge her with reaches that level, 3 felonies here, and you are in prison for life. The only other thing I could come up with, if you dont have a local animal abuse group, or animal control officers, is get her to produce this contract she says you have signed, and bust her on forgery charges. I am so sorry to hear of this, it makes me ill.

I think what Smidgets Mom said is a good idea. You should have her get a copy of that contract she said you signed. I too feel sorry to hear of this. It's too bad she wants money so much she would resort to this way of getting it. That's what I think. That may not be the case, but again, it's what I think was going on. Well, best of luck. -Shell
