A Bird flew in to my house

A bird flew in to my house and is flying around and around. Does anyone have any advice on how to get it fly out again?

We tried!

We opened the door and a window and tried with 2 brooms and a dust pan plus some towels. The bird just flies around and around the room near the ceiling, coming to rest on a molding or on top of the bookcase.

I also tried turning off all the lights except near the door. That didn't work either. At one point it fell behind the bookcase and we thought it was dead but it came out and is back up by the ceiling.

get a box, put it over it when it lands. Catch it in your hands. Use a net.

The room that the bird flew into can you close that room off? If so, leave the door open and hopefully he will fly out. With people in the room you are only scaring the darn thing. The other possible thing would be to get bird seeds and spread on floor leading outside.

You should be scared of falling and going splat onto the floor and then the bird just lands onto your head pecking at it. LOL!
