You'll be putting your (pets) in harms way by not keeping them indoors on Halloween.I hate having to say this-but there are sick people, who will harm them because they are
there.Your animals won't be able to understand Halloween,or its tendency to wake up
the worst in some people.ITS YOUR DUTY AS A FRIEND to keep him out of trouble and
the hes an outside animal aint gonna cut it.
AMEN Joe!!!! It seems by now it shouldn't have to be said - but it does. We live in a sick sick sick society-----so pets need protection.
OMG - Devils Night - it's HUGE here in Michigan - terrible stuff happens. Altho for the past couple years, good ol Detroit has come up with "Angels Night" to deter it. All neighbors are out patroling their "hoods" - but we had one heck of an arson fire last night.......angels were napping.
I have 2 black cats that I am not even letting sit in the window (as they love to do) Yes, I am that paranoid....but seriously - why shouldn't I be????
Thanks for bring this up and reminding us Halloween is a night to watch our fur-kids more closely than we already do.
One of our Local T.V. Channels was doing an animal shelter spot with live pets and a shelter volunteer day before yesterday at noon and ab libbed " Here we go folks, just the guy to adopt right now for Halloween!" (showing,, of course a beautiful coal black cat!) I about had another heart attack! I called the station news room and called their attention to how inappropriate that was, explaining that I understood that they and he probably had no awareness of how dangerous it is for all black cats at Halloween and asked that they correct the impression on the later news show. I didn't see it so don't know if they did or not....But definitely "WRONG ANSWER"! Poor volunteer has no script and is only a pet holder really so she had no way to undo it either...... Linda W
A little while ago, I saw a black cat roaming around outside. I think the neighbors who own it put it out. I'm pretty sure I saw it last year too. Same pink and red collar with the bell on it. I wanted to do something to help it and to keep it safe. The only thing was, I was inside and when I went near the door and started to go out, it saw me and ran away. I feel kind of bad for it knowing it could get hurt. The poor cat doesn't know it's Halloween. The fact that it's a black cat doesn't make it any easier. Right? Well, thanks for putting this up! -Shell

I only see it as paranoia if you WORRY about it.Theres a difference between being informed, and worrying. Most of the time, nothing happens and everyones happy. But then theres times when things go wrong, sometimes accidental, sometimes intentional.Believe that I have seen some of the absolute worst-and believe I also wouldn't knowingly allow it happen without warning people.I only see it as paranoia if you WORRY about it,Theres a difference between being informed, and worrying.
We don't have alot of people in our area that are that wild and rough, but We moved here to
SouthBend from Chicago, and Chicago is always on-so to speak. You just never know what to expect, especially if you're one of those using the CTA-or the elevated trains.
I wish i could say the same thing here in Reno! Not the case, unfortunately. We have a small town with big city crime.
Agonizing over it is unrealistic I agree, but if we, who are aware of it, cease to worry about it and extending warnings, and taking action, personally and/or legally, it will not just go away. It will just go unreported and unpunished.
Extending warnings includes informing the press that it is NOT a good idea to reccomend on the air that people race right down to their local shelter and adopt "This Black Cat".
We can hope that they WILL ,however, race right down to their local shelter and adopt the right kitty for their home and hopefully become an shelter kittys 'forever family'.
Finally, a voice of reason. I just hope they do not turn on you now. You certainly appear to be a decent person, and that might be your undoing.

I hesitate to post anything in this tempest in a teapot for fear getting things going again. I see some have given apologies and others have revised their views. That's better. While I was gone, it is my understanding that much went on yesterday tha…
I believe you have missed the point Barbara, once again. My comment on the "slander.." was not directed at you, however it was to Dixie, and I suppose to you by association. No matter, as you relayed you have provided the moderator(s) with your info…
