Do not use SERGEANT'S GOLD FLEA AND TICK SQUEEZE ON

Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick Squeeze-On for Dogs. I applied this product to my dog as directed, and within hours she was vomiting, foaming at the mouth, drooling and had no control of her legs. I was NOT happy with this product AT ALL. Thank God she is okay now, after calling my vet and doing what they told me to do. We had to immediately bathe her with dishwashing liquid, and then start getting her to take in water and chicken broth. She is very tired now and resting, but doing okay....IMMEDIATE difference after getting that crap off her. I absolutely WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this product to ANYONE !!!

Has anyone else had a problem with this product ??

I've never used Sergeant's Gold, but I do remember with our old pom she got sick from a flea and tick medication on her back. Turned out she had a allergic reaction to the medication. Glad to know your dog is doing okay now. :)

Kristina; I found your post tonight after frantically searching for the reason our 90 lb.chocolate lab is flipping out after putting the same product on him a few hours ago. I read over & over that we should bathe him 3-4 times with Dawn diswashing liquid, put vitamin E oil on the treated area & wait, which we've done. He seems to calm down only when I place my hand on him or pet him, otherwise he is frantically looking for a place to rub the back of his neck on. I hope to God he's going to be okay. I called the emergency 800# on the back of the box & they tell me we did every home remedy correctly and that he'll be better in 24 hours, but to bathe him with Dawn 3-4 times a day for the next 2-3 days! It's insane that this stuff is still on the shelf at Wal-Mart! He looks so darn tired but keeps jumping up like there is something crawling on him. What did your vet tell you to do?

The vet told us to use the dawn and to SCRUB her, and use a handheld shower head if you have one. After that, they said to feed her chicken broth and get water in her. The broth helps to flush the poison out of their system.

last sat. i bought this sargeants flea and tic medication at the drugstore because i wanted to
save a few dollars and not get what normally i get from my vet.
i put it on my 36 pound dachund mix and within an hour he was going ballistic. shaking his head constantly jerking, twitching,
looking behind him right and left like someone was therel this went on continuously for hours..
still didn't put it together that it was the sargeants. thought maybe he had a ear infection. when
i brought him into the vet on mon. she examined him and his ears and said he was fine... no
ear infection, she asked me if i used a new shampoo or something on him, when she said that
i realized that i had used this flea medication on him and it all started afterwards (my other dog
was fine - she is 20 lbs heavier then him) so i guess it didn't effect her...)... in any case.
when doc told me he was having an alergeric reaction towards it and it would pass through
his system since it was on his hair follicles, i felt a little better. when i got home i went on the
internet and my god couldn't believe all the complaints about this product and that it is still being sold.. all the symtoms were exactly like my dogs, except for the foaming. called up
their hotline and got this dr. of poison or something on the phone, who opened up a case file on my dog. he couldn't believe my dog at 36 lbs. could be effected by this. he said normally its
smaller dogs... i told him to come to my house and watch my dog jerk around in pain and moan in front of him, and then tell me that to my face... totally useless, he works for the company, so we know where his loyalties lie... why do they have a hot line # for a product that is obviously making dogs so sick.. anyway, every day ziggy is getting a little better, but
my prayers are that he will be himself one day totally, he still has many of the symtoms even
though this doc of poison said it goes out of the body in 3-4 days... i can't believe i did this to
him. i can't believe this is not more publicized.... in any case i am in the television biz and
am reaching out to friends who work on the news to do a story on this product and make
the public more aware of how dangerous this is... i even reached out to a friend of mine who
works at Oprah about pitching this as a story idea. If i who think i know alot about
my pets and taking care of them didn't know this, how many others don't as well... when someone says an "adverse" reaction, you think maybe a skin irritation or sneezing, but not
a dog that looks like he's either on uppers or cocaine.
if anyone lives in the l.a. area, i would like to know if you would be interested in telling your
story to the news if i get someone to do a segment on this...

please email me back here where i can get in touch with you.

God, these stories are utterly disgusting and frightening. Thank you all for sharing them and hopefully someone will not make the same mistake!!

It's not just the Gold, I used the regular spray from Sergeant on my 11 lb yorkie and not only did she get sick, she lost all her hair. From then on I only used what our vet gave us. I will NOT use anything from Sergeant ever again.

i dont live in l.a. but would be more than happy to talk to any news media outlet about my experience. i am seriously considering contacting my local news media as well.

hopefully you have written sergeants demanding a response from them. when i wrote them, they told me they didnt have a response to people like the consumers you find here because you cant believe what you read on the internet!! they also blamed people for using their product incorrectly and causing these kinds of "reactions".

please contact the EPA to file a report at 800-858-7378 and file a complaint at consumeraffairs.com as well.

I am at the moment watching helplessly as my Princess exhibits signs of extreme discomfort and pain from Sergeant's Gold Tick and Flea Squeeze-On for Dogs. He has vomited 7 times since I applied it on him at 9 pm last night. We both haven't slept since and it's 5:10 am right now. I still have to go to work at 8 am! She's been restless, has been growling and barking a lot (she rarely does normally) and she looks like she's hallucinating, twitching...she couldn't even take a nap at all! Poor baby... I am so mad at the system.. why do they let products like these stay on the market?!!! The dogs and those who love them are suffering needlessly! I took videos of her awhile ago that I would like to share to everyone who would care to see it. I haven't reviewed them - I just hope it captured the suffering my Princess is going through. This is JUST NOT RIGHT! Is there something we can do collectively against the manufacturer of this product? I will tell my story and put it on Twitter and Facebook and all other social networking sites out there - I will even post the videos! THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WE COULD DO TO SEEK JUSTICE FOR THESE UNNECESSARY PAIN AND SUFFERING! I pray my baby will be alright soon.. I can't bear watching her and not being able to do anything to make it better aside from washing her with dishwashing liquid and staying with her the whole night. She looks soooo tired but she couldn't sleep... it's breaking my heart to see such a sweet and helpless dog suffer when all I wanted was to protect her from fleas and ticks!!!

my dog as well did what yours did. soon after putting sergeants gold, for her size, on her as directed she was going nuts. she was jumping up and rubbing on everything, couldn't lay still, panting, and her eyes were very wide and big. we felt so sorry for her and didn't know what to do. gave her a 1/4 of a benadryl just to try to calm her down. she is better after 24 hrs. but still is not eating or drinking much, although we are keeping at her to drink. the second day she has been just scratching constantly. i am so glad i got online to check this out. i too can't believe how much harm it has done and that's just with the people on line.imagine the amount of folks that this has happened to and we don't hear about it. and something diffinately need's to be done to get it off the market! if Oprah knew of this i am sure she would do a story on it, afterall she is a dog lover and if this happened to her beloved dogs she would be furious with the sergeants company! it doesn't look like there would be any trouble getting people to go on that show. I live in ohio but i would cetainly offer a letter or whatever to get these stories heard. thanks for your work and concern in trying to get it out in the public so people will not use this product. also, pet care stores need to know so they tell people not to use the sergeants brand.
thanks so much and good luck
sincerely,

kris hohlbein and "molly!" ( 9# chihuahua)

I also don't live in L.A. but I would be glad to tell my story to the news or anyone who wants to hear it. I used Sergeant's Gold on my cat, followed all the directions perfectly, and within a few minutes he was twitching, going crazy, and drooling at the mouth. I called 2 veterinarians and both said to come in immediately as soon as I mentioned that i had used Sergeant's Gold. He was doing really badly by the time I got him to the vet, and may not have made it if I hadn't brought him in right away.

He is fine now, but the bill is about $800, and I want to do something to see that this doesn't keep happening to other animals.

Thank you for working on this.

Hi Eileen,

The exact same things described in most of these posts happened to my two dogs last night. The para-seizure symptoms were awful to watch, foaming of the mouth, extreme agitation, loss of sleep, vomitting. It was too much to handle at some points as you understand. Other than being on the phone with the vet and the poison control center, these posts including yours were extremely helpful. I feel an obligation to expose this company both locally and nationally. I am an attorney in Los Angeles and thinking of lodging a formal complaint and possible lawsuit if this product is not removed from all stores or better warning is not placed on the packaging. I am also thinking about writing and lodging complaints with all stores that carry this product. I am interested in your story idea as well. I can be contacted at michelleeceja@yahoo.com

Looking forward to seeing what we can do to protect other animals who may fall victim to this horrendous product.
