Do not use SERGEANT'S GOLD FLEA AND TICK SQUEEZE ON

Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick Squeeze-On for Dogs. I applied this product to my dog as directed, and within hours she was vomiting, foaming at the mouth, drooling and had no control of her legs. I was NOT happy with this product AT ALL. Thank God she is okay now, after calling my vet and doing what they told me to do. We had to immediately bathe her with dishwashing liquid, and then start getting her to take in water and chicken broth. She is very tired now and resting, but doing okay....IMMEDIATE difference after getting that crap off her. I absolutely WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this product to ANYONE !!!

Has anyone else had a problem with this product ??

I haven't ever used Sergeant's products. I have used Hartz and haven't ever had any problems with them. I do use Zodiac and have since my Schneltie came home with me, 5 yrs ago. I don't like the squeeze on products, so we do a flea dip with Zodiac Flea and Tick Dip. I have used Zodiac puppy shampoo as a dip also. We have only had 1 season of flea problems and that is when I couldn't find the Zodiac product and had to get something else. As soon as I found it I purchased it and we didn't have any problems. They also have a line of carpet sprays, bedding sprays, that we also used to keep the home free of Fleas and Ticks. What sold me is that it is safe (after it dries) around children and I have twin toddlers, so that is very important!

I am very sorry that you are going through this! That is awful. I am halfway attempted to make labels and put them on the boxes of this at the store, "DO NOT USE! IT CAN KILL YOUR PET!" If they won't take if off of the shelf, why not put the warning on the box ourselves and kill their sales? LOL I am glad your lil one is doing better.

I just wanted to also mention that we only use Flea and Tick collars in the Hartz, if I run out of Zodiac, and have gotten the Zodiac collars, as they are safe to be around children. Hartz flea and tick collar is only a temporary fix, until I can get the Zodiac.

I like the frontline, however, I can't afford to pay what the vets want to charge. It is expensive enough for all of the shots and stuff for our pets, and that is something that I can't afford, I trust Zodiac and it lasts 3 times as long.

Sergeant Flea and Tick topical put our dog in the hospital. Has not slept for 48 hours and continually walks around and will not relax. Rocky was not drinking and had constant twitches in his head. Now in hospital and cost will be above $400.00 to get him well. This stuff in poison and should not be on the market. All dog lovers that have had this issue with the product should sue the company. My time and expenses to get this resolved is terrible.
Poor dog I thought was going crazy. Fortunately I found a vet open on a Sunday to care for him and hopefully help him get will.
Beware of this product it is NO GOOD! I can not believe this product is on store shelves. What can we do to get this off the store shelves beofre more dogs die or go through what so many others have gone through?

#1 Contact Sergeants @

#2 Contact the EPA to file a Drug Adverse Action Report
@ 800-858-7378

#3 Contact the retailer where you purchased the product and demand it be taken off the shelf.

#4 go to the PETA website and send them an email regarding your experience.

I have done all of these. You will have to go through some paperwork etc, but we have GOT to get this stuff off the market. Just posting on websites is not enough. If you contact Sergeant's to get your vet bills paid, they will pay them and tell you that you have to sign a document not to speak badly of them in public (news outlets, online, etc) and basically drop the issue once they pay the bill. They take advantage of the fact that you just want to get your money back and be done with them. I will sign no such agreement.

I have lost 2 wonderful children to Sergeant's flea and tick shampoo, I did not use sergeants gold, just their flea and tick shampoo. Both pets loved baths so they got them on a regular basis and one of their baths was with a bottle of flea and tick shampoo from Sergeant's. Within an hour of their baths one dog had died after having multiple seizures. The other dog, which we got after the first one died, went unconscious then started convulsing within an hour after her bath. My fiance and sister rushed the dog to an emergency vet, but the dog died on her way there. The dog shampoo was the only thing those two had in common, so I know it was the shampoo that killed them. We contacted sergeant's and they did nothing for us because we didnt take the dog to the vet (the dog died on the way there) and could not confirm the dog had been poisoned by their shampoo.

For a while I went on a rampage telling every person I came across not to use Sergeant's products on their pets, and since I work at Subway I saw hundreds of people each day. As of right now the wal-mart in the town I live in no longer carries sergeant's flea and tick products, and neither does the grocery store I shop at. I hope that soon no store will carry their products and maybe the company will shut down. I pray that no other person iin this world has the experience I have had with Sergeant's and witnessing 2 very loved "children" die.

i too am so angy that this product is still being sold. what can we do as dog owners to stop this from happening. my dogs had an immediate reaction that required emergency vet care, and they are still not right. i worry for my little 11 pound poodle who continues to have seizure like reflexes from this product. when i called the company they acted like they could have cared less. i called the store in which i bought the product and begged them to take it off the shelf. i think more of us should band together and organize something to stop this from happening to anyone else. i know we are already to late for some.......please spread the word, go into stores and educate the managers of what happens with this product. i used sergeant gold on my dogs, and i can only hope i dont live to regret it.

Oh my goodness, I wish that I had seen this article prior to using the SAME product on my two boxers. Lil (7 years) and Glory (4 years) both were treated. With-in hours they started exhibiting weakness of their back legs, they started biting at their backs, and whining in pain. I called Sergeants 1-800-224-7387 pressed option number two and a "Tracey" there at the pet medical help line was rude and uncaring. She gave no help at all. My vet had us call them first to see what they would recommend. My dogs are still not able to walk properly, and still being treated for pain. I washed both dogs also, once with pet shampoo and once with dish soap. I called back again the same number and ERICKA a Supervisor was more worried about defending the office and product. She did say that the animals after being treated can have a painful reaction of numbness and pins an needles over their bodies, but " it usually goes away in a FEW days". STAY AWAY FROM SERGEANT THEIR PRODUCTS HURT ANIMALS AND NOT ONLY DO THEY ALREADY KNOW THIS, THEY DO NOT CARE!!!!!!!

I purchased Sergeant Gold two days ago and placed it on my Chico (chihuahua) yesterday. Within an hour he was running and rolling around on the floor as if he were trying to get something off of his neck and back. I purchased Sergeant from HEB (a store here in San Antonio). I feel so bad, because I really didn't know why he was acting this way. I kept telling him to calm down and started rubbing his neck. I have used Hartz for many years with no reaction and decided to get Sergeant's because there was a coupon saving a buck...I hate that I did that...Chico is calm now, one day after placing the product on him. Praise God that I washed him last night twice and then again this morning with a mild puppy shampoo. Lord have mercy, I looked under his neck and it looks raw! I know that all will be well, but never again will I skimp on quality. I love my little Chico and I was so saddened that this happened my baby boy.

Never use Hartz either..best to spend alittle more but go with a quality product that is safer and works. Can't buy it at Walmart or Kmart.

I used Sergeant's Gold yesterday and my dog had a reaction to it. She was coughing, shaking, and could sit still. She seems to be better today, but I can tell she's not feeling well. I will never use this product again.

I know you are writing about dogs here, but a couple of years ago we used the cat version and all three of our cats went ballistic trying to get it off them. We had to scrub it off of them. It's really not worth saving a couple of dollars, even in these hard economic times.

Hi!
I just used Sergeant's Bold Flea and Tick on my 5 Yorkies. Within 15 minutes things were horrific. My three adults were itching and my 2 younger ones were under the bed crying. My husband and I started immediately giving them baths with Oatmeal shampoo ~ my husband called the emergency # and they told him to use Dawn ~ we started bathing them all over again ~ this seemed to calm them down a little more ~ after they dried off I gave them a little childrens Benedryl and they did pretty good through the night. This morning they are still scratching but thank god the worst seems like it behind us. My heart goes out to the people who had problems with this product. Tell me what can we do to get this product off the market ~ I do anything to help.

Phyllis

All good ideas, thanks! I wondered myself why she didn't grab the one for $100, but who knows, maybe she has funeral expenses...?
