Can you all please do me a huge favor? My nephew was just born on Saturday, but he was born early. In fact, Saturday was supposed to be his baby shower! little rascal. His name is Alex and he's four pounds. He's in the NICU getting help because his lungs are under-deveoloped. Can you all please keep him in your thoughts for me? He's so little, but he's got our blood in his veins so he should be fine. this family has lost too many members lately and this is my cousin's first baby. Teddy and Kylie are worried about him, as are we all. Ill try to post pictures ASAP. Teddy lost his mother, my Aunt, to Breast Cancer, right after his wedding. A few months later we found out that April, my other cousin, was pregnant with her first born and the thing Aunt Net wanted most in this world is a grandchild. Well she now has four and I know she's enjoying watching them grow up from heaven, but I dont want any of them to join her this early. Please keep my family in your thoughts. Thank you

Im reading this for the first time now but I am praying for the little guy! I want to give you a little advice to give his mommy. I breastfed both my girls for 1 year. For some it can be a difficult process. The first one hurt me for a week until I got used to it. The 2nd learned to suck her thumb inside me the doc and I suspect and hurt me 10x worse for 2 weeks! Something I learned while breastfeeding was that babies get confused when their nipples are changed. A breast is not like a bottle is not like a pacifier. My first wouldn't take a pacifier, my 2nd had a very strong sucking reflex and if she didnt get it out of her system on the pacy it would have been on me so she got one until about 18 months when she just stopped on her own. (the docs said she will get very attached at 18 months so make sure you take it away at 1. Whatever doc.
So anyway, if Alex has been using a bottle then that's all he knows. Putting a breast to his mouth will not produce the same reaction as a newborn baby (who, if left lying by mom's crotch, will wriggle up to the breast and nurse. Life's amazing) My advice is this. Dont get frustrated. Dont feel like he doesnt 'want' you. Hes just used to something else. Give it time. GIve it more time than the lactation consultant recommends. Dont stress about anything. Its just you and your boy and nature will go its course. I know this is long response but breastfeeding gave me and babies so much joy and health benefits. Not to mention two super smart kids!

I dont think that will be an issue. he's been feed thru an IV. and tube. HE's also still making sucking motions with his mouth. I dont think he'll have an issue taking to it and April, my cousin's sister, has a lot of experience with it, three kids and all had some issues breast feeding. Kylie's got tons of support lols she's still using the pump to keep her milk going. and is looking forward to this so much! She's been dying to do it forever.

I hope Alex is doing great. Well last night, I said the doc gave me antibotics and steriods for the chills...they didnt work...i got chills tonight. Its with a fever when usually its not tho...so i dont know. He gave me steriods for water in my left ear and that has gotten worse too, so maybe it was what he gave me? Who knows....just thought I would report that

Alex is still doing well and going strong today! yay! thats my little nephew! i cannot wait to hold the little tyke and send you pictures tee hee he's so dang cute!

The fever broke and the chills went away. See what I mean about it going away just as fast as it came? I still feel achy...its a bug, I'll live lol I can't sleep tho, its almost 4:30 am...probably cause I slept so much today. Im gonna go take a shower in a min, that might help. If it wasnt so late I would take a dip in the jacuzzi tub, but I don't feel like being in there long, I need to go lay down and at least try to sleep. Im so glad that Alex is doing so well :) I was just thinking today, with 18 nieces and nephews (counting my brother's wife's kids, two of which he adopted) and a great niece, and at least 100 first, second, and third cousins (both sides of the family)...that would be a lot of nieces and nephews if I called them all of that LOL

I am so happy to hear that he is doing better. Prayers and Best wishes still coming from here in Ohio. I got a bunch of my friends praying too....never can have too many prayers. You hang in there kiddo, something tells me this little man is going to grow up to be someone very special!
