Hi Everyone,

I am absolutely heartbroken, my little Gee who was a seventeen year old Bichon Frise has passed away, he had dementia and was blind, it was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make, as the vet suggested he could try a new medication but he was too far gone.
I miss him so much and wonder will I ever get over losing him. I am hoping he will come and visit me soon and that will put my mind at rest knowing that he is happy and has forgiven me for making that decsion to end his life.

You thoughts and stories are most welcome.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Remember he is now probably running in the fields with the others above you. When and if you decide to have another, he will be with you to help decide on which one so that one can take over(not replace) where he left off. He will forever be in your memories and your heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my 13 yr old Jasmine 9-4-09 and today I feel the void in my heart will never be filled again. My children are encouraging me to adopt another dog but I'm not sure. Jasmine was so very special, as are all our furbabies. I also had to help her to The Rainbow Bridge and I hope she has forgiven me. I pray that she has! She had become very ill from the side effects of ProIn and after 45 days of misery, she just stopped eating and drinking water. I miss her so much and some days don't want to face another day without her.

Marian and Cheryl, don't feel like your loved pets have anything to forgive you for. I know its hard to see right now , the pain is just so overwhelming, but you will see eventually that your babies know that you were helping them by allowing them to stop suffering and cross over the rainbow bridge. Their eyes are filled with the most beautiful things right now that if they could tell you about it, they would never be able to describe it. Marian, I never knew that animals could get dementia, but I know that Gee is over in Heaven, filled with gratitude that you helped him come to another life that is nothing but happiness and love...and guess what? He can see! He can see now, seeing his maker and all the other animals. He's able to run around playing with his new friends all day long...and you gave that to him! You and Cheryl both gave that to your furbabies, and they are never going to be able to thank you enough for that :) Know this and allow it to comfort you and with time, that pain will ease. The both of you will eventually start to feel the need to share your life with another little furbaby...but never feel forced into that, it needs to come when you are ready....but when it does come, it will be the perfect timing, for you and for another baby needing your love. Trust that gee and Jasmine will not feel replaced, but they will feel joy....joy that you have found that happiness and love again, thats all they want is for you to be happy until that day that you join them up in the Heavens. Until then, know that they are looking down at you, when you see a rainbow in the sky after rain, thats the rainbow bridge, thats where your babies crossed and where other babies are crossing. Follow it with your eyes and thats where you will join your babies again when that day comes :)

Don't feel guilty, you made the right choice. Not an easy one but what you knew to be best for your friend. Sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is a very hard decision to make to let your pet go to a better place and you did just that. May the pet angels be with you during this difficult time.

I feel your pain Marian. I have been there more times than I care to remember, and know I will be there many times again in the future as I can not live without animals in my life.

THere is nothing for your baby to forgive, he loves you and know you love him, so much that you couldn't let him suffer and die slowly. He knows the pain in the decision that you had to make. Animals are pure souls, that know only love. Think of him often and he will be there when you need his comforting love. When your time comes to cross to the other side, he will be there with wet sloppy kisses to welcome you, and you two will be together forever then.

Don't shut your self off to ever loving another dog, because one day, there will be a sweet face that will need you, and you will know in your heart when that time is. My Grandmother always said when your heart is ready, your beloved pet that has passed will send you a little one that needs your love.

My prayers are with you at this difficult time. Lean on the Creators to get you through the pain. I will not tell you that you will "get over it" one day, because that is a lie. I lost my beloved Tina 28 years ago, and I still tear up when I talk about her. REMEMBER, LOVE NEVER DIES!

The memories are always with us. I had to do the same for my 20 yr old beloved cat also named Jasmine Aug 11 2009 at 3 pm. Time is the only healer and the grief is unbearable. God bless and U both and I did the right thing. We gave a Ultimate Gift of a pain free release to our loves. May the wind be at your back in this time of mourning. Luv and hugs, bobbie

Marian:

So sorry for your loss. But Gee lived to be 17; that sounds like a pretty full life to me. And how you feel speaks volumes for the life of love Gee must have experienced while with you. I know how your feel, because every time I lose my dog, it breaks me all to pieces too. But the hurt will go away in time. And when it does, it will be time to find another Gee to bring into your life. In the meantime, we all feel your pain. Hang in there!

Hi everyone,

Just to say a big thank you to all of your kind words and messages of sympathy of the passing my little Gee.
I have just collected his ashes from the Vets and I hope they will give some comfort to me knowing he is close by. I have also just received 2 books ordered off Amazon entitled - Pets have souls too and animal and the afterlife, again I hope by reading these I will find comfort, if anyone can recommend a good pet afterlife book I would be very interested to know the titles.

Many Thanks to you all, for your support at this difficult time.

Marian, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Seventeen years!!!!! My goodness, that's a lifetime for a dog. God Bless your vet who obviously understood your agony. I have a 15 year old German Shepherd.. not sure if I can be as brave as you, but you are my hero today.

I keep a bunch of different scented candles in my office.. everytime an animal passes I light one. Tonight, I've got a Thyme and Rosemary candle burning for Gee.

What a lovely little life that graced your world. You can smile with wonderful memories.

Take care of yourself, Marian.
