I was sickened by your choice of Mcdonalds, one of the worst abusers of chickens.How can such a choice be reconciled?
the chickens suffer horribly as they have their throats slit, put into shackles, go through scalding water.sometimes with broken legs.Baby male chicks in the egg businnes take a ride on a belt into a grinder while they are alive/You may have your reasons but I cannot imagine why. Do we just protect dogs and cats?Food animals do not matter-after all,they taste good!

Darrell, I think we've already addressed "my" emotions as to the importance of a motorcycle or a dog. You can type it out and make it look different, but the message is still the same. My answer is still the same too.. not every Harley owner might agree with you. I know plenty that would sell their wives and dogs to save their motorcycles. It's much more than a replacement to them.

I don't view my animals as my equals, but they do hold a position of value in our household. Would I give my life to save theirs? No, I know I wouldn't.. but would I do everything in my mortal power to help them when they needed it? Yes, to a certain degree.. I wouldn't become bankrupt over it. I do have some sensibility.

Humans may be animals, but they are logical thought processors who are superior to any other animal out there and they make the rules of law. Until you can convince them to make chickens their equal, then they will continue to see animals as having only rights of protection. And nothing more.

I would love to see animals hold additional rights.. as I've said, it only helps me and my cause. However, the idea of it going overboard as Cass Sunstein suggests.. scares the hell out of me.

Karen, there's room for all sorts of views on this forum. It's great that you're so passionate about animals, but swearing (with or without *'s) and disrespecting other members of the community isn't OK. Take it down a notch. You don't have to agree with everyone here, but you do have to be respectful in your posts.
