My dad is getting rid of our dog that we've had for 7 years becasue..

What the heck? Weve had my chihuahua since he was a puppy. Now he's 7. He's always peed all over the house. But we just clean it up. He's never before been so 'bothered' by his pee. He usually just laughs it off and says "Thanks Junior." I can even recall a few times where he found a pee spot and said "Good boy Junior." Now all of the sudden he wants to get rid of him. I woke up this morning to him and my mom putting an ad on the computer, selling him for $50.
There's no point in arguing with him. That will just make it worse and make me more frustrated. I'm crying and I really dont know what to do.

No offense but your parents are assholes. I wonder how they would of liked it if their parents gave them up at birth when they wet their diapers and wet the bed and crapped in the tub etc..this type of stuff pisses me off. I can't stand people like your parents. You sound like a caring person but your family is doing wrong! Who cares if the animal pees on the floor. Mine did many times. They are just like us..sometimes we aren't able to hold it just like them. Only difference is we are in control..the animal really isn't. They can't unlock the door and open it and let themselves out.

Why don't you make a good plea to your father and ask him to get rid of you and give him one or several of your faults. Tell him that the faults you have are because of him not guiding you properly and now you need to be placed in another home, shelter or even put to sleep because he did do his parenting skills right. See what he has to say. Armed with what he just told you tell him that everyone in the house is a team and as a team we are all in this together and no one bothered to correct the dog. Tell him that it is his fault, your mom's fault and your fault for not teaching the dog. Let him know that the dog doesn't know better and he can't open the door him self and pee or poop unless someone takes him/her out. Remind him that is all our responsibility and now you, he and your mom is failing this dog by getting rid of him/her because after 7 years he all of a sudden wants to get rid of it because everyone was too lazy to correct his/her behavior.

If you have to, show him this page of yours to see the response you are getting. He is not helping by getting rid of the dog in which will die because of rotten parenting skills.

Don't let your father win this...fight for your dog if you care. If you don't fight for your dog it is a shame you don't see the animals view and with those sad eyes he will look at you while you get rid of him all because he PEED!

You can also take the dog outside every few hours and after every meal or drink of water. Do it even if the animal doesn't seem to have to potty. I had to do this with my puppy. After every meal and drink she would be outside ( with me of course ) but she finally got the hint that when she had to potty it was to be done outside. Now there could be several reasons for your dog to pee. Either your dog isn't getting outside enough, a medical condition, a mental condition, or your dog just wasn't properly potty trained right. I would try and talk to your parents..ask them to give you some more time and try to work with your dog every day..and make sure you get your dog outside every few hours or if you see a weird look like the dog is gonna do something. Also everytime your dog does potty outside make sure to have treats ready and give treats everytime your dog potties where you want him to and always say "GOOD BOY!" Let him know he did a good job.

I'm so sorry that you are gonna lose your dog over something that he has been doing for so many years. It doesn't make any sense. And selling him to strangers instead of finding him a good home with someone you know that will love him as much as you do is unforgiveable. I don't know how to make you feel better. I have 2 chihuahuas too and they pee and I clean it up. I don't mind 'cause they are my babies and I could never give them up. It would be like giving away my child just because he peed in his pants. You have my heartfelt sympathy. I don't know if you believe, but pray to God first and then to St. Francis for strength and courage and understanding. St. Francis is the patron saint of all God's creatures. I will pray myself for you, that all turns out ok. Keep the faith, dear, and all will turn out just fine.

Here is a little reminder you can pass onto your mother. Your parents may think your dog is going to a good home and you later find out it was use as a bait dog. It happens and most people when they are giving up their dog would bring it to the shelter at least it will have a chance. Now, this is only if your shelter is a non-kill shelter.

Please read what I wrote early and use that as a good example to bring your case to your father in saving your dog.

I have posted this on every discussion I see about "free to good home" or "cheap to good home" I am really against the whole newspaper ad or posting any type of ad anywhere. Me being a big supporter of ending puppy mills I can say something like you just mentioned Bullies..any type of animal can become a victim of horror. Some animals can be used to breed and make profit, some can be used as bait, some can even be used to just beat up on. It's never a good idea to post ad's..if you do you MUST and I mean you MUST do a full check up on the person who wants your animal. There are many people that seem fine and normal and good hearted and actually they are monsters. By the sounds of it your parents won't give a shit where the dog goes..as long as it's out of your house. I will not sit here and bash you. Im sure this is hurting you. I have come to understand sometimes you can fight and fight and you get no where with parents especially if you are under age and living in THEIR home. If this is the case I do not blame you. I'm sure well I hope you do care for this dog the best you can.

This is Disgusting. Potty training is one of the most simple things U do when U first get a dog. Even an old dog can B taught FAST. U need to find a new home with experienced loving, caring people. Please dont EVER get another dog. Bobbie

See, this is what I've always experienced. People that get toy dogs and don't see them as DOGS, therefore, don't train them. Yeah, MY dog had to have obedience training and personal training because she weighs more than 10 lbs so I guess that makes her a 'real' dog. Damn. Train your DOGS and stop treating them like cats or just random cute objects.

Edit: And hell, even cats know to use the litter box.

Chris, who got the dog? Parents did. It is like crying wolf that your kid is fat and you want to blame McDonalds for your kid being fat. Hello, the parent is the blame as they buy the food and made it available for them to get fat. This goes the same for the dog. They brought the dog home so it was EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY to train that dog. So, ya, it is his fault!

To top it off Chris if you look at her profile they have other animals as well. I think it says 3. I got 4 and yes every now and then the dam dog peed some where. Just wish the booger would bark to tell me he wants out. LOL! But still, it's my fault because they can't open the door to go out otherwise I bet the all would.
