Hi all,

I'm going to try and keep this short cuz it's a long story. I can give more details if anyone is interested...
I live in a town home, with a close knit neighborhood and mostly great neighbors. I noticed a couple of months ago that one of my neighbors was throwing food out in his yard. Things like chicken bones, pizza, lettuce, corn, potatoes, sub sandwiches, etc. Some of it was thrown in the bushes of what is considered the 'community area' some of it was just hanging out in the grass next to his patio. I didn't say anything at first until my dog started realizing that this was a great place to steal a snack, but that aside it really is a health hazard.
Finally one day I asked him to stop doing it. He refused. I said okay and wrote a letter to the HOA and the city. Since then he has continued to throw food out, called me names, threatened my dog's life, and spread dog poop on my door step. Each time I have made a compliant with the HOA or the police. Although he has no dog, he keeps a full bowl of dog food outside his house, and yesterday I got home to find a can of tuna fish laced with rat poison in his yard. I am at the end of my rope. The police won't do anything because he has not actually committed a crime. Although he is a renter, the HOA just keeps sending him and the home owner letters asking him to stop. Does anyone have recommendations on how to deal with a crazy person who is trying to attract wild and domesticated animals to his home in order to hurt them?

I agree with Haley, contact your local humane society or SPCA in all areas other than New York. What a horrible human being I hope he is stopped

I hope you're keeping your dog indoors. I would certainly notify any other pet owners in the neighborhood and have them do the same. What a nightmare.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I have tried to build a fence (incredibly long HOA story) with no luck. I do try to keep my dog on the leash at all times, but when you need to run your Border Mix everyday the options get slim (yes we walk, and yes we go to the dog park). When I have contacted the police they have told me that no 'crime' has been committed. I did take a sample of the tuna, and emailed the board of the HOA and invited them to come by the house and check it out. Up to this point all they have done is sent one letter to the homeowner and the tenant, although I have probably sent them 3 or 4 batches of pictures.

My neighbors are very aware of the situation and I found out this AM that one of them volunteers at the animal shelter. She mentioned it to someone there and Animal Control came out. At this point the tuna is long gone, so they decided to not say anything to him with the hopes that we keep our eyes on him and if we see it again immediately call the Officer.

Thanks again, and I will definately let you know what happens!

I think this person is seriously deranged. He is not in the same world as you are I would say that the adult services should know about him and give him the help he needs. It is not very pleasent to live in a neighborhood with a person or persons of this category. Their sense of reality is so completely diffrent from what is considered normal. The Aspca is a good choice. I am certain they will call the adult services. Where I live we have a problem with an alcholic demented person. He sits on the bench just outside and drinks himself in to a stuppor then he wees in the bushes in front of children. walks upon our terasse and wees there. The stench was unbarebal. We finally got some of the janitors alerted to the situation and this person was warned off the problem is that he continues his drinking on that bench. My lads don´t like him at all. So I have to be careful since they might just show him their contempt. especially Connor is very expressive.People like that have no undrestanding of anything execpt their own little world.Sincerly Lisbeth and the lads in Denmark. Take care you are not alone.

I agree with Bams. That sounds like you would be getting to his level if you took that advice from LJ. Sorry LJ, but that is illegal and cruel as well. I would go along with the others though about keeping an eye out, check on your dogs about going to the vet to be sure they are okay, and take pictures if you must, and keep that neighbor who works with the AS posted if any wrongdoing. Also contact the ASPCA or Humane Society too.

Doing something like what you proposed above is stooping to this persons level. He will not understand any of it as it has clearly been explained. However contacting the right athorities is a much better and more a helpful aproach. It will not only save the dogs but this person is not normal and clearly needs help. It is the same if you have a fear agressive dog they won´t understand why you are getting agressive you will just make it much worse why not show this person a bit of consideration instead. In my humbel opinion he needs help and the right athorities should know about his case. he needs medication ect. Remember he dosen´t know what he is doing he is out of it. Sincerly Lisbeth and the lads in Denmark. Consider the dogs as well as the demented person and peace will be restored.

i agree he needs help. He is not thinking straight so when you tell him to stop he does not understand why you are telling him to do so since he thinks he is doing the right thing.
I wish you the best of luck.

he is not necessarly mental Lis. and medication doesnt help everything, but I do agree that authorities need to be informed. Not only is this dangerous for animals including wildlife but it is dangerous for children. If the cops wont do anything call the media

If I were you take things into yur own hands. People like that always have something that has made them that way. Look at it from a different view. For instance if hes a drinker follow him one night wait until he leaves a bar then call on him for drinking and driving. Animal lovers like us must stick together and let the haters of the world get theres. Everyone has something, hes taken the time to investigate you, return the favor. No one in my neighborhood dare mess with me or the strays. Be the voice, find what makes him listen. I als helps if you can kick butt like me but not everyone is like that. I would for any animal risk myself for their safety. I brake for squirrels!

Hey there
Very sorry to hear your problem with your neighbour. But here is a though for you, check on your local DPS web site in your town and make sure he has no criminal background, cause if he does then you have him right where u want him so you can get him removed from your neighbour hood. Other then that like everyone has said keep and eye on your dog at all times. You say your dog is a border cross? well if you know anyone with a few acres, ask them if they mind you excercising your dog there a few times a week that way he gets the running he needs also put criminal tresspassing signs all over your property that way if he does come across to your property he is commiting a crime and if you can you can buy pretty cheap surveilance cameras to tape everything he does, so that way you will have evidence on him..

Good luck

I do sincerely hope that your post and that of the others had not deterred anyone from donating to Full Moon Farm, the name is in the title of my post. That would be a sad situation if people have elected to not donate based on an error. Thanks for…

I found it just easier to get blood work done and let the Vet test to see what my Max was allergic to and then treat from there. Most of it was food. A few out door stuff and that I couldn't help to avoid. Like me, I can not just not go outside for…
