Vomiting Pug

My 1yr 5 month male pug--has been having the occasionally vomiting episode.I notice this past wk he has been getting up and crying about 4 am , his eating time is 6am.This morning he cried and after I calmed him down and went back to bed ,I heard him jumping back and forth on my couch and when I checked on him ,he had vomited twice on it and the smell was strong like human vomit.Does anyone know why this happens and what can I do or give him to ease up? Thanks

Of course, I have to say, and mean it, that your need to ask your Vet about this. Since this is an occasional thing and not acute, at least you dont have to race to the vet, but a call is something you should do.
I have had dogs before that I call "pukers." Sometimes they would throw-up from time to time. My vet told me to give them one half of an antacid. I noticed they loved the flavored kind. It seemed to work and made their tummies feel better. I noticed they would usually do this when they had an empty tummy, and with your pug puking 2 hours before eating, it might be he has indigestion on an empty tummy.
Keep in mind that some stomach ailments are intensely dangerous - a torqued tummy is fatal in a matter of hours.... so any time you think something is wrong, call the vet.

Thank you very much for your advice--Today Gio woke up at his normal feeding time at 6am and ate. He has not vomited. I took him for a long walk around central park and he enjoyed himself.I will comment to the Vet. in regards to this episode next month when Gio has his f/u visit.

You also try rice in his diet. It does wonders for tummy aches.

One of my previous briards (when old) would vomit if he needed to go out for potty in the middle of the night and I was asleep. Eventually I would wake up because of the smell and rush him outside where he would relieve himself enthusiastically, and afterward be okay. Apparently having to go and having to hold it made him ill. It helped when I added two extra potty times to the daily schedule -- one immediately after getting up in the morning and the other just before going to bed at night.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to keep and eye on his potty times and see for any changes.I will consult with the Vet. nxt month.

Viviana, none of us here (with the exception of Dr. Shea) is a vet and we aren't qualified to diagnose your dog. If my dog was crying in pain for any reason that I couldn't immediately see, I'd be on the phone right away with my own vet. It's not so much the vomit, it's the crying in pain for a week in the middle of the night. Please do not wait until next month to contact your vet. You should be on the phone...now.
