Adoption!!!!

I want to hear back from people who think that not enough people are adopting animals. There are so many lovable cats and dogs sitting in cages at your local pounds that are looking for loving homes.

It saddens me that so many people are still paying hundreds and/or thousands of dollars for "pure bred" dogs and cats when there are so many animals in shelters who need loving families and safe environments... but what sickens me are all the people out there continuing to overbreed animals for the money they can get! I try to counsel anyone I know who is looking for new additions to their homes on the joys of adopting versus paying money for designer breeds.

Just to respod to what sarah said about adopting a dog I think that buying a laberdooldle is also on real. People should really check there shelters first. When I adopted my dog for the shelter I called first to see if they had puppies ( which I wanted a puppy to grow up with my little one). Well when I first called the shelter had 6 puppies and 2 where laberdoodles. Just goes to show how stupied people can be

We adopted our sweeties, Jake & Tycho, from a local shelter. We had so much fun with them, we decided to feature them in video comic strips. We figured every one could use a chuckle in the mornings (like we used to with the funny papers). So we put up a new video comic strip every weekday morning. On weekends, we run one of Jake & Tycho's public service announcements promoting pet adoption. Anyway, take a look at jakeandtycho.com:

Hope you enjoy it. And thanks to all of you for helping all those sweet innocent friends out there.

HI! we adopted our 2 babies from a shelter. wonderful and loving dogs by the way. but we people mention buying a dog from a pet store, i ask if they have visited any shelters first. but it's ok. because the way i see it, if they buy one, maybe that is one more that won't end up in the shelter.

i agree with lani-we've adopted 8 mix breeds and recently my boyfriend wanted a pure "old" breed-just something new-so we went to kenner to bought jack and keera(two american bulldogs on our page) and they were in great need-they were almost starved to death and we didnt even pay full price and i think if we would have went a week later they wouldnt have made it -- it was actually a lot cheeper than adopting-pure breeds that are for sale also need help but i would suggest adopting first unless you know someone who is not properly taking care of the dogs and then report them to the aspca...

Just wanted to say it's not just the breeds that get neglected, abused, abandoned, and are in need of rescue. I myself am a part of a Siberian Husky rescue in which we deal in only pure bred Siberian huskies and it keeps me just as busy (if not more so) than my full time job...the horrors I have seen I wouldn't wish on any one...so please don't think people are just all "hung up on the pure bred thing" and they don't need love and homes too...

Hi,
Good for you! I couldn't agree with you more. We adopted two wonderful pups and put together a public service announcement promoting the adoption of mixed breed dogs. I think you might enjoy it. It's on my profile page, or you can see it on jakeandtycho.com on weekends (during the week we have funny stuff...which we can all use a bit of). Anyway, I'm glad I found your group and am looking forward to getting to know you all. Thanks for all the good work! Martha

what really gets me is that there are countless animals who would make perfectly good pets sitting in shelters and there are arrogant people out there who are so hung up on the pure bred thing! i spent $55 on my pebbles 7 years ago from a shelter and she is the best thing that ever happened to me (most times). every time a new client comes in with a "yorkiepoo", labradoodle" etc. it enrages me that they wouldn't think of adopting a "mutt" from the shelter by they paid $1200 for their labradoodle! (a MIX between a labrador and a poodle) unreal!!

That's how I did it.. with the patch. Some people smoke for the oral satisfaction.. so gum might work better for them. That worked for my son, who has quit long ago.

No gift in the world as seeing a compassion story such as this. This is what Christmas is about. Not the gifts or even the food. It is the compassion to make a difference in someones life either it be an animal or a person.

It must have been a miracle. I had a bit of extra funds left over in my yearly donation account and so my husband and I made a donation through his work, who matches his donation. Just when you are feeling your worst, feeling the shit storm of crap…

I know.. that really bothers me and the photo's seem to be hiding the size issues. We may never know.. rumours get started here as quickly and easily as changing your socks. I am grateful, however, to know that there are alot of people in this forum…

Stopped smoking 13 months ago. Used the patch for only 3 weeks. The patch..how does that make you vomit? The gum maybe. The patch is a 10 week program and it will only work if you are determined to stop. After my husband was diagnosed with lung can…
