Yes, I have a question. We just got a 3 month old puppy Friday and we're trying to house break him from using the bathroom inside to going outside to use the bathroom. How do you train a puppy to let us know when he has to go outside to use the bathroom? We've been crating him when he does use it inside the house for about 15 minutes. Also, when he goes outside, he rather play than use the bathroom. How do we stop him from doing that? Thanks.

I used training pads and placed them by the door for two weeks. When Cal got that down, I moved them outside to the porch Cal would stand there and I would let him out to the porch. When he potties, praise and treat. After two weeks with know accidents, he was then placed outside the porch onto grass. He now has a doggy door and he makes a cute whine sound at night so I know he needs to go out. I close the doggy doors because of skunks and other wild animals. When outside placed on a leash, tell the pup to go potty quickly. Praise and treat when the pup urinates or poops. Try to watch for signs that your pup has to go, like circling, frantic walking around, sniffing, disapearing, after eating, after naps, after playtime that has been longer than 30 minutes. I took Cal out every 2 hours as a pup, and now he can go every four hours, when I am not home. He was trained in two weeks with the inside, 11 weeks old mastered the porch and by 12 weeks was going outside like a pro..
