Insects etc.
Hi Dr. Dunayer, in the warmer months, I've seen my cat Bing go nuts (in a good way) trying to chase a stray fly that got into the apartment. He never usually catches them, but what if he did and wound up eating one? Could flies or other insects be dangerous to him? Thanks.

Some insects can sting which can cause local pain and possibly an allergic reaction (with a swollen muzzle, eyes, and hives or rarely difficulty breathing). Some bite with their pincers (I remember years ago one of my cats spitting out a water bug who had bitten his tongue. After that, he never ate a bug again!) Most insects, however, are harmless and shouldn't be a problem as an occasional "treat".

I've never seen anything like it, and I've lived in a variety of places that get ice storms.
And no one was hurt, for which we are incredibly thankful.
This ice storm reminds me of the ice storm we had in New England back in the 70s and we were with out power for a week. Reminded me of the movie Day after Tomorrow.
I hope no dogs were hurt during this storm.
