Both of my GermanShorthaired Pointers have elevated liver values, and have had for about 3 -4 months. Normal on the 2 liver 'markers' is under 100 and on the one of these they are at 500 (14 yr old male) and 400 (9 year old female). The second is elevate also butnot as much.
We just cant figuer out what has caused this - we have changed everything environmental we can think of. They are under the care of 2 vets but we cannot seem to get to the bottom of it.
Mild (and that is what I would call these) elevation of liver enzymes is not uncommon in older dogs who are otherwise normal and healthy. However, there are several different liver enzymes that we test for and the type of problem associated with that elevated enzyme may be different. Without knowing which enzyme it is that is abnormal, it is hard for me to comment. However, if you want to pursue this. you veterinarian may be able to do ultrasound and biopsies of the liver.
