I have an ant and spider problem in my house and would like to take care of this situation. The ants are in different parts of my house but especially around my dogs food and water bowl. I keep her bowls and area clean but want to know if there is a "green" solution to getting rid of them instead of hiring an exterminator. Thank you.
Many people use boric acid for ants -- it have a very wide margin of safety for dogs. And most of the ant bait stations are safe even a dog chews on several of them. I don't have experience with green ways of controlling ants. Maybe someone else here dose.
I also have a 14 month old and new baby on the way so I am looking for any non-toxic soultion. Thank you for your help and any other suggestions that may come.
I have the same problem and have a great solution...take a shallow baking pan(the cheaper the better) and fill it with water. Set the dog's food bowl inside the pan. The ants and other bugs can't reach the food. Nothing that can't swim can reach the food. It has worked wonders since we began months ago. NO MORE ANT COVERED FOOD TO BE THROWN OUT!!
Thank you for your suggestion. Frist, my dog doesn't leave any food to be eaten but a few crumbs....she gobbles it up right away....LOL! The problem is they are right around there and go in her bowl after she's done eating and I also don't want my daughter and son to be to play with the ants. I am trying to figure a way to get rid of them completly. But your suggestion is a very good one.
