Yeah he got kicked out of the service, which is nothing compared to that poor puppy's life. Him and his family received death threats over what he did.

About a year ago, I watched some film of our troops in IRAQ. While our guys were essentially casually checking out an area apparently abandoned by the enemy, one soldier shot a dog about a hundred feet away that was threating no one -- just barking. I watched the dog lay down hurt and dying.
The action was totally unnecessary. I loath that soldier for his actions that day, and the soldier that threw the puppy too! Neither is a "hero" in my book.
