I got my sweetheart shorttrack from a unknown pet store.All the animals seemed very unhappy and starving for attention and health needs.Shorttrack had a stich in his belly,I guess he got it from another dog.They had about 10 to 15 puppies in each pin.It was shamful.They are closed now,thank God.I'm glad I got shorttrack before anything more happened to him.He's a mix of a chaa wa wa and rat terrier,His papers say Cha wa rat,pretty cute.He's 3 years old(Nov 11)now and doing great.I'm disabled and could not live without him.Love ya'll, David a. I'm glad you love your new puppy, the point being made here is by buying a puppy at Petland, you are actually supporting Puppy Mills, if they sell dogs, they will keep doing it. The AKC is now saying that aside from a reputable breeder (as far as purebreds) they sanction the selling of purebred puppies at a pet store-which is also contributing to the operations of puppy mills. Wherever there is money to be made......

Instead of supporting puppy mills by purchasing from pet stores why not, if you are unable to find what you are looking for in a shelter, find a rescue group...There are numbers of Breed Specific rescues to choose from...it's not settling it's saving a life vs. supporting the very thing shelters and rescues fight to put out of business.

i think you guys have your opinion and thats okay. My opinion.. Im all up for adopting a dog at the shelter. When i was searching for my dog, i went to all the shelters in las vegas. All i found were dogs that had problems or pit bulls. I have a family and a older dog that is having problems isnt wat i want. And i def do not want a pit bull they are awful dogs. I went to petland and I saw the dog i wanted. I bought a 3 month old Pug. I made the most amazing decision. She is the perfect addition to our family. I dont feel like i did anything wrong for purchasing the dog. When choosing a dog, this dog is going to be in your family for a long time and I dont think anyone should settle for a shelter dog if they dont want to. In this case i just didnt find one that i would love until petland.

i feel so bad when i see animals in those places , I want to free them all and take them home with me. But i know I can't. It's sick and hard to see that people do this kind of stuff.
