A friend found a little kitten who needed a home and since I had been looking for one I brought her home last night. We have been home 24 hours now and I am probably worrying for no reason. The last kitten I had was 6 years ago (rest his soul) so my recollection on little ones is rusty. She is doing great. Eating, drinking, using her litter box and checking out her new surroundings. What has me concerned (like I said it is probably nothing) she is sleeping a lot this afternoon. She slept a while last night with me and then went off wandering the house about 4 am. She has napped a little this morning but since about 3 she has slept alot and it is 6 now. Nothing is wrong right this is just what they do? I think she may be about 2 months old.
cats sleep 16 hours a day. As long as she is walking around and active she is fine. If she becomes lethargic and not eating then start to worry. Watch her litter box, make sure she has a bm each day and she is urinating plenty. Kittens are growing fast and sleep a lot also. They play hard and crash hard. Have fun with your little one!
She is eating drink and using the litter box just fine. I figured I was just worrying. She has spent a lot of time today running form room to room jumping up into the windows to look out sine it was nice here and I had the windows open. She was up and about a little while ago did the food and litter box thing chased her toys around and wandered thru the house for about an hour. Now she is curled up next to me. If I move she gets up and follows so I am going to just keep an eye on things but I think I was just worrying over nothing. Like I said it has been a while since I have had a kitten in the house. Thanks!
Not only do cats sleep a lot, but she's a kitten, and just like babies, she needs more sleep. Cats are also nocturnal and will do most of their sleeping in the day. Mine sleep with me til I am asleep, or til they think I am, then they go off in the house to play. Like the others, until she stops eating or bathroom is abnormal...there is nothing to worry about
Thanks everyone! I figured I was just worrying for nothing. Seems to be my nature these days. She is doing great and was all over the house last night and underfoot this morning. Again thanks fir helping the nervous Mommy!
Missy,Try having 8 cats flying around the house at 4am,now that is a challenge.Good luck with your new kitty.I love raising cats from birth and I have been doing it for 10 years with no problems at all.
i totally agree that all dogs, whatever the breed, should be on a leash. i had a german shepard for 13 years and he was a gentle giant and very well trained. i had a pure pitbull for 10 years and she also was a gentle, sweet dog. i now have a pitbul…
