Dog Aggression

Have you ever been bit by a dog, or do you have a aggressive dog, or maybe have experience and can help others with their dogs? Or maybe you just want to talk about shelters who put aggressive dogs to sleep instead of giving them a chance.

Hello:

No, she is not a Pit, but an Akita, which is considered an aggressive breed. And you are probably right. She got to a certain maturity, decided she likes to bite and so now she does it as often as she can. Fortunately Akitas don't maul like pit bulls do. Tney just bite and let go. But she HAS done damage twice. Fortunately no one sued me or reported it. Now I am EXTREMELY careful with her at all times and with everyone. Even my family.

And my poor cats- Akitas were used in Japan to catch bears, so chasing anything is big fun for them. They are fearless and notorious car chasers as a breed. They will also sometimes be referred to as Japanese fighting dogs. They were used as fighters for a long time.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

PS: My dog is pure pit and highly prey driven so she sees cats and smaller animals as toys sometimes.

Does she bite people or other animals? (I'm terrible at dog breeds) but is she a pit? Pitbulls don't mature until they're about three years old so sometimes they come into maturity and realize 'oh wait, I hate other animals'.

PS
She knows her vet and does not try to bite him.

My dog if respectful of anyone, is me.
However SHE BITES!!!
She was a lovely puppy... Was not hit or abused while growing up... Had plenty of food and was raised with cats. Out of the blue at about 2 years old certain aggressive traits emerged. I now have to keep the cats separated from her at all time and she BITES.

For 40 years I have had dogs and she is the first who I am afraid to let alone with people. I Love her, but SHE BITES and we have NOT hit her, abused her or withheld any food, affection, etc. She is part of our family and lives in our home as a family member. I DO BELIEVE it IS something in her personal BREED or PERSONALITY.

SOME DOGS BITE!
I am 48 and she is NOT my first dog, however she IS my first biter.
