Hello, my name is Sherri. I live in a home with three ISSR Shiloh Shepherds. Shilohs are a rare breed of dog still under development. They are all still on the young side as two are just barely 11 months and one is 16 months. Our girls are all still in training. The oldest is in training to be my mobility service dog and she is doing amazingly well for her young age.
The buff colored girl is starting S&R training this fall as well as Rally-o and the other girl is in confirmation for show and Therapy dog training, but most of all they are our big babies. We hope to add one more baby to our pack in December a little boy to complete us, but we are waiting for the perfect genetic match for our girls.
I look forward to getting to know everyone. My mail is always open so drop me a note any time.

Best of luck with it the trick is to be persistant she will rebel against you if she does ignore her for twentyfour hours i did and it worked wonders with my then rather dominant greyhound now he is a well ajusted and happy hound. I have a pack of four three greyhounds and one whippet all loved beyond reason spoiled rotten but they know their place using this method is very effective will give you a lot of laughs and a happy to please dog who knows her place and will therfore be easy to handel.

Thanks a million. She is a VERY stubborn little stinker sometimes, haha. I love her to death, and I try to take very good care of her. I think she's on the spoiled side- she's always been very pampered. The other dog, Leo, couldn't be more appreciative of attention and food and walks. She expects and demands everything, haha. When we come home she "asks" to be brought up on the couch and she growls while you pick her up. Then she smacks you with her paw on your arm or hand asking for attention. If you don't give it to her she licks your hand or growls at you. I used to think it was kind of funny. Now I just want her to be normal, haha. I'll definitely try it.

Camille. It sounds as if your dog is in charge of you not the other way around the behavior she is displaying is dominance. When she demands to be petted ignore her when she shows teeth ignore her. By turning your back on her she will realise that you give affection when you want to not when she demands your attention. You walk out the door first eat before she does pretend to eat some of her food before giving it to her. This will put things in perspective without hurting her feelings but putting her in her place. When she behaves give her positive attention in this way you will have a changed dog in a few weeks. But expect her to be rebelious it might take a while depending on how stuborn she is. Just keep doing this and she will be a changed dog that will be pleasent to be with. Sincerly Lisbeth and the lads.

My schnauzer Gabby hates it when I touch her paws. If I hold her paw she shows me all of her pretty little teeth and on occasion she bites me really hard. I'm not hurting her and sometimes she confuses me because she will give me her paw (she likes to smack me if I don't pet her immediately) and then she'll show me her teeth! Any suggestions on how to get this behavior to stop? She's 5 years old going on 6.

Reply to KD regarding ticks. Sulphur will keep ticks and fleas away. You would need to check with your Veterinarian, of course, to make sure that it would not harm your dog. We always used it on ourselves, but, naturally, we never licked ourselves so you need to make sure the Vet says it's o.k. If so, you can buy powdered sulphur and mix it with some baby powder or corn starch - 2/3 sulphur to 1/3 baby powder or corn starch. It definitely does the trick and keeps the ticks and fleas away. I hope this might be helpful. Either way, good luck.
