Letter from our VP as of this morning:
Lakota was dumped by a transporting Trucker:

This is a letter from our VP about the situation:

I was invited on a conference call for the board members of operation roger tonite. They're very sorry about what happened, & assured me that this is not how they operate. The driver of the truck has been charged with animal abandonment & will be prosecuted. He will also no longer transport for operation roger. They also assured me that we will not have to pay any money for anything re: Lakota. They are also getting individual drivers together to make the trip to Michigan. You will be recieving an email from Crystal, outlining what they plan to do. He will be transported before Mon. to a board members home, Sue, & will be there until all is arranged for transport. We will be kept informed of his whereabouts at all times & the gal in Florida will be constantly tracking him until he arrives in Michigan. Please do not get anyone else involved in this & please do not bad mouth operation roger anymore. It would be a good idea to retract your email that you posted about them. I do believe that this is not how they operate & the driver took this upon himself without contacting anyone from operation roger. Especially if they are going to press charges against him, & I did have an officer from the El Paso police dept contact me for info re: the situation.

PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainments, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that
I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways ...

I love thee agreeably --
enough to let your stinky dog hide on the bed after a run through damp
leaves, mud and slug infested gardens.

I love thee steadfastly --
enough to devote a year to raising you from a wobbly speck into a strong
healthy adult (who promptly attempts to seize control).

I love thee passionately --
despite your repeated efforts to probe my ears, eyes and mouth with the
same tongue you use for various other atrocities.

I love thee well --
despite the amazing odors you produce.

I love thee deeply --
though you use me as a napkin at every opportunity.

I love thee madly --
despite the various bodily functions you have performed at inappropriate
moments and in inappropriate places.

I love thee constantly --
despite the dog "bladder curfew" I have lived by for many years.

I love thee truly --
despite the "doggie land mines" hidden in the grass.

I love thee absolutely --
because you never (well, hardly ever) hog the remote control.

I love thee gratefully --
because you stay by my side (or on my side).

I love thee devotedly --
more than clean carpeting, clothing, furniture, floors or walls.

I love thee bravely --
enough to battle the indomitable flea on your behalf.

I love thee monetarily --
enough to put the vet's children through college.

I love thee openly --
I will bear any embarrassment for your furry sake.

I love thee totally --
more than free time, excess cash or a predictable life.

There is an Indian legend which says: "When a human dies there is a bridge they must cross to enter into Heaven. At the head of that bridge waits every animal that human encountered during their lifetime. The animals, based on what they know of this person, decide which humans may cross the bridge...and which are turned away."

"If we don't put an end to the senseless killing of healthy adoptable pets, we run the risk of finding there is no room for us when it is our turn to enter heaven."

In the famous words of Bob Barker: "Help Control The Pet Population, Spay and Neuter Your Pets."

WHEN I THINK OF THEM
by: Laura Hageman

When I think about them
I see their innocent eyes
Their playful nature
Their unconditional love and devotion

When I think about them
I feel so sad
I feel so guilty
I am torn with regretful emotion

Sometimes I wish I never knew them
I think about it daily
And I blame myself
Why did I fail to do the right thing

I wonder why I ever knew them
Why God brought them to me
Why didn't I do better
It didn't have to be so heartbreaking

I am glad that I knew them
They filled my heart
With a lot of love
I hope they can forgive me

I am honored to have known them
I miss them so much
It hurts so badly
The pain won't let me be

When they think about me
I hope they understand
That I never meant
For anything bad to happen to them

When they think of me
I hope they remember only good
And not bad
For I will always remember them

YUP, thanks you made me cry :( Sadly this is so true for so many of these poor babies, and of course I went to animal control today to torture myself more, I was able to commit to pulling 4 dogs from there, but there is one that I had to leave behind that is eating away at me....

There is an EXCELLENT web site about Pit Bulls that I send all of the people that apply for pits to. A LOT of excellent information, where all the BSL are and the status of pending ones, and a TON of great educational materials that can be printed off. Rescues can also list Pit Bulls they have for adoption here. Well worth visiting!

That's how I did it.. with the patch. Some people smoke for the oral satisfaction.. so gum might work better for them. That worked for my son, who has quit long ago.

No gift in the world as seeing a compassion story such as this. This is what Christmas is about. Not the gifts or even the food. It is the compassion to make a difference in someones life either it be an animal or a person.
