What I learned to do is put a lamp on the floor in front of a bucket of water when you go to bed. The fleas are attracted to the light and will jump into the bucket and drown. I know it sounds weird but it works!

I use a variety of products. I try not to use too many chemicals. I still use Frontline and I do my yard with those granules twice a year. I also use products from http://www.agorganics.com/ I use the Orange Guard, Neem Oil, Mosquito Repelling Granules, Flea & Tic Repelling Granules and Cedarcide YardSafe Granules. I get my Diatomaceous Earth from http://www.internet-grocer.net/diatome.htm I also get products from http://www.theholistichorse.com/index.php I also give them brewers yeast, bee pollen, black walnut and I keep charcoal on hand. I give them a little charcoal in their water every once in awhile to try to keep from any build up of chemicals.

I had gotten a kitten from a lady had kept them outside in a barn. The poor little thing was infested with fleas. I brought her home and asked my mom what could I use to kill the fleas. She told my to use the original Pomolive dish soap. I used that, scrubbed her down real good, and the fleas were just falling off of her....and yeah...they were dead. I have used Pomolive ever since. It doesn't prevent them from coming back, but it is great quick fix if you are on a fixed budget.

I never heard of that..:)
Even if it works it won't protect the animal against re-infestation.Why don't you use a spot on product like Frontline,Adventix,Stronghold,ProMeris they are good and will keep you pet fleas free for about 1 month, and also protect dogs from ticks.
