I am so excited after a long 9 weeks my Inka has finally had 7 beautiful pups. I hope they will take after dad Damian and become excellent working dogs both on the field and off.

Hi fellow german shepherd lovers. Love this breed, as many others for their loyalty and devotion to family members.

I worked for a vet clinic at one point and I saw one dog that was heartworm positive, yes the treatment is rough because of the arsenic, but that dog survived and I have heard of other dogs surviving. I know people who do not give their dog heartworm preventative because their dog only goes outside to go to the bathroom. I tell them that it only takes one mosquito to give their dog heartworm and mosquitos do get into the house. It is so easy to prevent this disease, I do not understand people's thinking. We have not seen any aggression in Sargeant at all, he would not even attack an injured squirrel we had in our backyard. The only thing Sargeant did to that squirrel was bark at it and prance around it trying to get the squirrel to run and play. When it wouldn't, Sargeant looked at it like he was saying "what is wrong with you?".

Chasing the tail can be easily corrected. The poor dog is Bored. What a heartless guardian. Once again, this Breed is to intelligent for a novice who lacks the knowledge , training skills, re-directing the prey drive, agility training etc. What State is the dog in? I am in fl . Any pictures and is he Cat friendly? Please leave info on my page. Hugs, bobibie

Only the Vet can see the severity of the stage of heartworms. I had a friend who left her large dog with a friend for 2 months with money and instructions for the Heartworm prevent test, which is done evey 6 months before giving the treatment. Friend never did it, spent the money etc. dog got heartworms and was given treatment by the owners Vet but with a slim chance of survival. Dog was 9 yrs old then and lived to be 16. So keep the faith. She will probably B fine. Just soo sorry she has to go thru this. Hugs, bobbie

I'm really glad to hear that Viper got out in time! Sorry to hear about the heartworms - like Bobbie says...the treatment is pretty brutal but she looks young enough that it has a better chance of being successful. I'm also with Bobbie that I would go without groceries if I had to so that I could get the heartworm preventative.
Viper is so beautiful! I was just about ready to go on a quick roadtrip to save her!

I know what you mean bobbie! I think viper had a pretty rough life. They found out that she has heartworms after the new owner petted her belly and it really hurt her..does that mean it is in an advanced stage?
I know, I think Shepherds are not dangerous what so ever as long as you train them right. Some people just do not recognize that GSDs are working dogs you can not expect they they will sit around the entire day. I got a case right now of a person that I think not trained the dog well and so on, and now they want to get rid of their GSD, bc he is constantly chasing his tail....
