So happy Viper has a forever home but the heartworm treatment can B rough as they use arsenic in the treatment process. I pray it is not in an advanced stage but many survive well even so. How can Anyone Not have Any dog on Heartworm Prevent treament? People disgust me.I would go without groceries to keep my dog protected at any cost. Hugs, bobbie

German Shepherds are on the dangerous dog list. Thanks to stupid people instigated incidents. This is a Gladiator Breed and not for everyone. I have trainrd for K9 and Military GSD Males only for years. The Best dog in my eyes but U have to B in control and training is crucial. They will take a bullet for you. I love the Breed and would walk thru fire to save one. Hugs, bobbie

Yes! Viper is safe and Viper has a wonderful family! They found out she has heart worms, but the new family decided to take her anyways and she is getting treated right now!

Hello. I am new here too. I have one gsd and plan on getting another. He is a working gsd and a hand full but I would not trade him. The breed is so loyal. I should have named him Shadow instead of Niko.

HI everyone! New to ASPCA community and to German Shepherd Lovers group, however not new to GSD's. I have had minimum of 2 GS's at any given time for the past 19 years. I love this beautiful breed and cannot imagine not having a German Shepherd in my life....

can anyone tell me why dogs that we're once friendly with my one yr old female are not snapping at her. she has been spayed so i cant see this being due to her going into heat. Oh and the dogs are smaller than her if that helps. thanks

Yes, German Shepherds are really beautiful, versatile and very popular dogs, so you couldn’t have made a better choice, Alayne.
They are used by all the important police departments right around the world, as well as Search and Rescue, dogs for the blind, sheep and cattle herding, etc. The reason is simple – German Shepherds are extemely intelligent dogs and very easy to train. I would not worry about them getting on the Dangerous Dogs list – that is something you will only hear from people with a certain breed of dog - I guess that if you had a dog that is banned in most civilized countries in the world, you would feel better if a highly respected breed like German Shepherds were added to the list.
