What about the un-happy endings?

I am a monthly contributing guardian, but I am seriously rethinking in what way my contribution is helping at all. I guess I became enraged with the SPCA this morning when I saw the story of Baxter... Continue

My Husky is a rescue. The old lady that she belonged to had to be put in a nursing home and her grown children didn't want her. So they put the dog in a crate and kept her outside for 6 months! The poor dog just needed someone to love her, she was so confused to lose her loving owner and then to be forced outside in a crate and unwanted. I got her after someone saw her at the shelter and told me how she was probably not going to find a home because of her age. She has been a perfect pet.

I hate that commercial! I love the animals, but it makes me cry cuz the song and animals are really sad looking. Im gonna adopt a dog from there though. Im ten, so when im at school i cant take my mind off the commercial, so i start crying a little.

I may be only 11, but i have helped in the animal community. Most of my pets have been strays that were practicly starving to death. I nursed them back to health, but most were old, so they died in about a year to 2 from old age.

I would like to share a story about Mercy. A humane society dog that was saved from dog fighting. Mercy is a pit bull mix and today I volunteered at the local humane society, walking dogs and rubbing bellies. This is where I met Mercy. At first glance she looks scary. Her snout is half and there is a hole where her nose used to be. I took her out of her kennel and she came right to me. She nuzzled me and laid her head on my leg. Such a sweetie pie. She did great on the leash! I took this sweet heart for a long walk and we even did a little jogging. Now and then we would stop because she would want her ears scratched and again she would just lay her head on my lap. My heart goes out to her and to other dogs just like her. The sad thing is she will probably not be adpoted. People who participate in pit bull fighting should be thrown in the cage and left to defend themselves against pit bulls. It is so hard for someone like me to spend time with all these precious furry creatures and not take them home. Atleast I can feel good that I have given Daisy May and Mater a better life...

I rescued my weimaraner from a 4x4 cage(cell). Starving, cold an wet. Nothing to sleep in but a puddle of water and his own fecies. The bad part was it was my boyfriends cousin that done this poor dog this way. When we let him out of this so call cage he went straight for the neighbors trash can for something to eat. This cousin had three bags of food on their porch that this poor dog could have eaten but no one cared enough to at the very least drop some on the ground for him. It was the worst sight I had ever seen. We scooped him up and went stright to the vet where he stayed for almost 3 weeks. He's home with his Mommy now and I spoil him rotten. I could cry every time I think about what this poor dog must have felt and thought in that cage in that condition.

Bandit was rescued by my husband. Poor baby was on the verge of starvation, nothing but skin and bones he was also starving for love and attention. He would of been dead in a week tops :( . My husband took him from the people, brought him home to me and we nursed him back to health and showered him with the love and attention he needed so much.
I am happy to say he is now quite healthy and literally the happiest dog I have ever seen. he greets every moment with joy and enthusiasm asthough he knows he came close to death but found a loving family and best friend in thuddybear our other lab. :) m
