I am in agreement with everyone else here, things do come up. I am lucky enough to be the youngest of 6 kids and my dad would do anything in the world for me, so he is where I turn when I can't afford something, (of course I've paid everything back to him) but it happens to us all. When I laid in on someone a few weeks back, it is because they were getting a very small government check each week, that I know is barely enough to take care of the human, let alone a bunch of animals. This is different. Crap happens in life and sometimes we just don't have the money. Totally understandable.

well, i got some really bad news today, on my dog buddy.. i have cryed for almost 4 hours now, and i cant stop... i took him in this morning to the vet hospital, cause last night i couldnt get him to stop coughing... they did the xrays, and found that he has lung cancer.. three big masses in his lung. omg, im so sad. they gave him some medication to help calm his cough, and some more for infection.. told me that if i had about 4 thousand dollars that i could take him to st. louis and have it removed... i understand that keeping a animal has its cost, but when certain things happen, what do they expect you to do.... im freaking out right now, cause im lost.. i dont know what to do... i cant stand the thought of him suffering or dying... this has got to be one of the sadiest days,,, he is laying here on my lap, calm right now... i told the vet that i couldnt afford that, and she said that all she could do was try and make him comfortable... well geeeeeee.... thats nice and all , but i want him to live, not just be comfortable and pass away.. i have looked up help for pets... but so far no one is taking apt. at this time....... all, i ask is,, that you guys please pray with me,, for buddy to get better,, god will answers prays...i love this little guys so much,,, its breaking my heart....PLEASE LORD,, I KNOW THAT I HAVE ASK ALOT IN YOU,,, BUT PLEASE HEAL BUDDY.................................... barb

Oh man Barb, I'm so sorry. That is very difficult news. I've been there many times before with beloved pets and it never gets easier.
Its just my personal opinion but please don't go the route of keeping him comfortable until he passes. I have done this before with a couple of dogs that my husband just couldn't let go of and I really regret doing it for their sake. Never, never again. They do suffer to some extent, usually in the last hour. I'll never forget that look of panic in my Doberman's eyes when things started happening and she passed moments later from heart failure.
I live everyday with the reality that if something major happens to one of my dogs that I will have to euthanize them. Its tough but there is no way I can afford thousands of dollars for expensive treatments.
I had to put down one of my horses a couple of years ago because she needed a $3,000 surgery to save her life and I had absolutely no way to afford it. I was angry for months afterwards.
Its hard to let go of them because we love them so much but because we love them so much we must let them go.
Be strong Barb and please think of Buddy and what is best for him. Hugs to you and again I'm so sorry.

I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy. I was afraid that something this serious might of happened.
My parents had to recently put their cat down because they found out he had cancer underneath his tongue, last Wednesday. He would had been 18 years old this week. A few weeks before, they had to put down one of their dogs. He was 14 and 1/2 years old. Believe me, it is very hard and I know it never seems to get any easier. Just remember, you have to do what you think would be best for him or for you. I would go with for him. Both of you are in all of our prays. We are so sorry. Please kiss and hug him for us and let him know we love him.

No, this is not typical of the dogs, any dog can get brain tumors, as they get older. Pit Bulls are like any other dog. If it had human aggressions, it was because it was not treated or brought up right. Joe

Hello All. I have been indirectly associated with FMF since early 2005. I have been friends with Nancy's children and Nancy for years, and have visited the farm myself. The animals are well cared for--they are fed properly and given the proper medic…

Any breed can be made mean. Pits start out sweet like any other dogs. You got some good advice going there, start socializing your pup now, otherwise around 7 or 8 months when Dog Aggression starts to show up, you're gonna have a hand full. My pit w…

No it's not fair, but that's the way it usually is for us pit owners. At least he isn't making you get rid of the dog as some of the pit owners around here have had to do.

As a proud Oco-Vegeterian, myself, I do not support it. The cruelty that they go through in order to put dinner on a plate is sad and disgusting. When we run out of horses, cows, sheep, hogs, etc, what will we slaughter, then? Children? Our own kind…

Horse slaughter is needed. If you own horses and are dealing with the horse industry at the moment you will understand. The horses that go to slaughter may be dangerous, lame, or horses that are so malformed from bad breeding practices that they are…
