I am in agreement with everyone else here, things do come up. I am lucky enough to be the youngest of 6 kids and my dad would do anything in the world for me, so he is where I turn when I can't afford something, (of course I've paid everything back to him) but it happens to us all. When I laid in on someone a few weeks back, it is because they were getting a very small government check each week, that I know is barely enough to take care of the human, let alone a bunch of animals. This is different. Crap happens in life and sometimes we just don't have the money. Totally understandable.

Oh man Barb, I'm so sorry. That is very difficult news. I've been there many times before with beloved pets and it never gets easier.
Its just my personal opinion but please don't go the route of keeping him comfortable until he passes. I have done this before with a couple of dogs that my husband just couldn't let go of and I really regret doing it for their sake. Never, never again. They do suffer to some extent, usually in the last hour. I'll never forget that look of panic in my Doberman's eyes when things started happening and she passed moments later from heart failure.
I live everyday with the reality that if something major happens to one of my dogs that I will have to euthanize them. Its tough but there is no way I can afford thousands of dollars for expensive treatments.
I had to put down one of my horses a couple of years ago because she needed a $3,000 surgery to save her life and I had absolutely no way to afford it. I was angry for months afterwards.
Its hard to let go of them because we love them so much but because we love them so much we must let them go.
Be strong Barb and please think of Buddy and what is best for him. Hugs to you and again I'm so sorry.

I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy. I was afraid that something this serious might of happened.
My parents had to recently put their cat down because they found out he had cancer underneath his tongue, last Wednesday. He would had been 18 years old this week. A few weeks before, they had to put down one of their dogs. He was 14 and 1/2 years old. Believe me, it is very hard and I know it never seems to get any easier. Just remember, you have to do what you think would be best for him or for you. I would go with for him. Both of you are in all of our prays. We are so sorry. Please kiss and hug him for us and let him know we love him.
