Hi, all! I am new to this particular group so please bear with me. I know of a rented house that has been abandoned and the people have also left all their kittens and juvenile adults, one female is pregnant. My home is down by Galveston, Texas, but these poor babies were left abandoned in the city of Dickinson, Texas. I called numerous 'agencies' only to be told they could not help me and referred me to the Health District of Galveston County Animal Control Center. I called them and they told me I would have to capture all of these kittens/juvenile cats before they would pick them up. I have been driving a good distance each day to feed these poor babies and except for the baby kittens, the juveniles are very friendly. As it turned out there were more than the 5 I originally fed. The next day, there were many more mouths to feed, much to my sorrow. I did feed them all, but there is no way I can handle all of these precious, abandoned kittens and juveniles. After calling animal control back, they said they would set traps to catch them 'when they got some traps'! I hate the fact that not one SPCA in this area will help me because I know exactly what will happen to these little ones once and when they are picked up by animal control...they will be killed! I give money to every pet organization you can imagine and I am truly irate at this point and find it to be a total disgrace! These babies have no shelter, no food, no water and no help except for me; I do not want to see these babies killed.

Some humane societies have traps for you to borrow.
Some offer low cost spay.

Yes, you would think that would be the case, but not around here. I can't even get our county animal control division to loan me a trap; they tell me they don't have any. As for low cost spay and neutering there is a wonderful place here in the town I live in that offers this for a reasonable fee, but you MUST bring the animal into their facility in a trap; no carriers allowed. Plus they are so busy they are booked solid for weeks - you must get on a waiting list.

Chasity ~ oh sweetie, there is no need to apologize I just hope all is well with you now; you come first! The situation with the kittens and juvenile kitties is ongoing. I've made an arrangement with the Animal Alliance Clinic here in my town of La Marque. If I can trap the kitties, they will spay/neuter them for FREE, but I must pay for their rabies shots, which I am more than willing to do; I have to do something! I had to purchased a 'humane' trap because this clinic will not allow anyone to bring 'abandoned, neglected, abused, injured' (homless) animals into the clinic unless they are in a trap. My problem is they will have to be taken care of during the healing process...I cannot take them back to 'that place'. Have found homes for 3 of the pre-pubescent kitties...thanks to a friend who stepped in and is helping when possible. My husband isn't an 'animal' person and he only tolerates my fur child, Sassie. I have a huge garage and a screened-in back porch, but bringing the kitties here will cause a HUGE conflict/uproar, but I have to do what I must do. The kitties that have been 'adopted (?)' can go directly to the individuals that are willing to take them. The others...well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. The 'renter' who abandoned all of these babies hauled a number of them off, including the pregnant mama to the 2 (still nursing) kittens...BUT HE LEFT THE 2 KITTENS...the smallest of which is very ill. I plan to take her to a vet either today or tomorrow. I take my Ms. Sassie to Dr. Cindy Moore who is the director of the vet clinic/hospital at PetsMart up in Webster. The only problem with taking the kittens there is I must sign a 2-year contract on any 'animal(s)' seen there and I can't afford to do that.

In your last message you asked me '...how old and how many...' did you receive my reply? Have you read the thread on my TOPIC? I don't know if you can read any of my responses to various, concerned animal friends; hopefully, you can because it will more or less update you on the situation. I need to add and UPDATED version of my 'topic of discussion'. Fyi, with the help of my friend, we were able to capture the smallest of the 2 baby kittens yesterday and he/she stayed overnight at my friends condo. He already has 3 rescued shelter cats. This little baby kitten is sooooo thin; it's like petting a skeleton with fur, but once it got over it's frightened state, it was so sweet and precious and just relaxed and slept in my arms...I am getting WAY too attached to all of these kitties!

As I said, this is still an 'ongoing' crisis and I appreciate any advice you can provide. I don't know if the medical situation you refered to was concerning your health or a family member, but either way, you and your family come first! Feel free to call me for an update on the kittens and kitties at my home or cell number(s) 409-935-7348 (H) or 409-771-7327 (cell)...

I am SO glad to have heard from you and hope all is well.

where did renter haul them off to? somewhere safe?

Hope the renter took them to a safe place. I hope you can find that part out.

Regina, yes I found out where the renters took them and it was not to a safe haven. While feeding the kitties yesterday, two little kids who live around the corner from the rental house got off the school bus right there. The boy was about 10 yrs old and his sister was much younger. He was familiar with all the kitties; to my horror he told me the renters had loaded many kittens and juveniles into several containers (boxes ?) and 'took them to the pound'. Sadly, their fate was sealed when they were taken to the 'pound'...it's horrific and sickening.

Hi, 2sun, According to a little boy that lives around the corner the renters put them in several boxes and 'took them to the pound'. That was before I ever got involved and I was horrified when he told me this yesterday. He was only about 10 years old and seemed like a very caring little guy and I didn't have the heart to tell him how the renter sealed the kittens/cats fate by taking them to the 'pound'.

Did you check and made sure that was what he did?? He could had just throw them off some part of the road in a different area.

Regina ~ the renters hauled those kittens & juveniles off long before I ever got involved in feeding the ones they left behind and that was over 3 weeks ago. The pound doesn't hold animals longer than 3 days...if that long; especially, if the owner comes by and just DROPS them off like these people did. The little boy simply told me what the renters told him. Assuming they actually did drop them at the pound they would no longer be alive after all this time and if they dumped them somewhere I would have no way of knowing where to look nor what kitties to look for since I never even got to see them. I just thank God I can at least try to save the 12 to 14 they left behind; I'm finding that to be an uphill battle but I'm not going to quit on those little guys/gals. FYI, was able to catch the smallest of the 2 baby kittens and took it to a friend's vet yesterday. My friend named him SCAMP...I truly believe this friend will be keeping the wee little SCAMP who tugs at anyone's heartstrings so easily. Scamp was determined to be a 2 month old male; weighed 1.9. Was given his first series of shots, a worm pill and flea medication. I desperately need to catch Scamp's sibling before he/she becomes feral. I've already noticed it's quite the little fighter when it comes to feeding time; has no problem slapping/growling/hissing at the other older kitties as they all try to eat; they pay attention to this little one.

My lab has skin allergies and in his ears as well. Had him tested and it is the food that is given to him. Giving them a more natural diet helps...that is when you can afford it.
