Suspicion of cat poisoning in my neighborhood

I joined this discussion in hope of getting some answers. There are several stray cats in my neighborhood to the disgust of most of my neighbors. Lately there have been a few of the strays winding up dead. I believe one of my neighbors is poisoning the cats, but have not been able to prove it. I live in a small town with no animal control and do not know what to do about this situation. If anyone has any suggestions on what I am able to do I would greatly appreciate it.

I have no suggestions but I am quite sad reading your post. I don't understand why someone would be so bothered by a stray cat they'd kill it. I can't fathom hurting any animal simply because they were in my yard. I do garden, and animals get in there, but I certainly don't hurt them because of it. Annoying? Yes. But it's part of the great outdoors and I get that...I'm not going to hurt an animal cause they're digging in my vegetable garden. Ugh. Sick people.
Do you know for sure they're being poisoned? Could you call an Humane Law Enforcement officer (you said you're in a small town, could you look up a state office?) to do some kind of investigation? Poisoning an animal I would think is animal cruelty no matter where you live, and whoever's responsible should be punished for it. That's just sad.
