Starved Horses:(

There is this man who owns 5 horses and a little colt behind the barn were i board, he claims they aren't his horses,and doesn't feed them they are all skinny and have tryed to esacpe on numerous ocasions! The gate is always open, we have talked to the man and he isnt concerened at all and animal control won't do anything!What do i do?Im concerned for the horses!

You can check with your local law enforcement as animal cruelty is a felony in most states. They can go talk to him and find out who the owners are and either issue them a cruelty cititation or ask them if they want to give up their rights to them. If they are willing to sign them over contact a horse rescue group to see if they can take them. Don't know what state you are in but I'm in northwest AR. You can contact me if I can help at [e-mail] as I am a certified animal cruelty investigator. If you are in the city limits usually there is a animal control officer who might be able to help.

See the first post and contact her but beyond basics there is nothing you can do if animal control won't, unless you plan to feed them yourself. If the gate is open that isn't exactly escape. Some people are "dropping" their horses in other people's fields. This may be what happened and he can't afford to geed 5 more horses. I feel bad for him, the horses, and you. It is very rough these days.

I think you should take the horses, take them to a horse shelter, something like that.

i would try to call aspca and see what thay think you should do i dont like seeing any animals starve i love all kind of animals my favor is horses has been my hole life i would do something asap!

Contact your local TV station and local newspaper. Explain to them what is happening to these horses and that the local animal control won't do anything about it. I am very sure they will look into it. You can also contact your local ASPCA and I'm sure they will look into it.

Starving any animal is considered being cruel to them.

It is AGAINST THE LAW to starve an animal.
CALL THE SHERRIFF.
then get online and look up 'EQUINE RESCUES' in your area (state, county, town, etc.)
CALL THEM.
GIVE THEM THE ADDRESS OF THE PLACE THE HORSES ARE BEING STARVED.
and directions to it from the main rd.
NOW IT'S OUT OF YOUR HANDS.
the eqine rescue will also call the sherriff, and he is now forced to listen. they have lawyers. they know how to legally handle it so the law obeys.

The closest aspca is in miami and that almsot 6hrs away for where it is and the gate was closed the last time they got out , we close it all the time.
