"Kommissar Rex" is the most popular TV series in Australia, and in fact around the world. It was shown in 110 countries, translated into thirteen languages, including Chinese, Vietnamese, Hungarian, etc.

It is a police crime series set in beautiful Vienna and it features Rex, a gorgeous, very intelligent, sometimes cheeky German Shepherd, who operates as part of a homicide detective team in the Vienna police.
Rex thinks he is the senior member of the team, and he has every single member of his team firmly twisted around his paw.

Like his three detective colleagues, Rex lives almost exclusively on ham rolls, often does his own shopping, and given half a chance, he will steal other people's ham rolls, as well as play amusing tricks on his friends.
He is unbeatable as a detective, and always gets the "baddies" in the end.

USA is one of the few countries in the world that has not seen Rex yet. You don't know what you are missing - only the best TV show in the world !!
Some Inspector Rex DVDs are available at Amazon.com .
Complete series are also available in Australia from a reasonable $34 for a set of 4 DVDs (14 episodes) plus postage. If you love German Shepherds, this is the best investment you can make.

Found a decent translation of the article - Rex on a Cruise
Article of Tuesday, November 24, 2009
The inspector goes on vacation. Work. But luxury. The four-legged hero of European television, the Commissioner Rex, has in fact embarked on one of his adventures on the Pacific Coast, the flagship of the Costa Cruises fleet. The filming of the episode, which will see players as always in the role of Kaspar Capparoni Commissioner Lorenzo Fabbri and the most famous and beloved German shepherd, are held in the week November 22 to 29 on board the Costa Pacifica, during the last of its cruises of summer 2009 in the western Mediterranean.
The ship, which entered service last May, came from Civitavecchia Sunday, November 22, and will touch the city of Savona, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Tunis, La Valletta (Malta) to Palermo, offering unusual scenarios to the adventures of Rex and his companions . Still top secret the name of the guest star of the episode, which should go on air in Italy on RAI 1 in February 2010. While we must continue to play its role as actor-cop, you can still not say anymore that the commissioner Rex makes a dog's life. Unless you suffer from seasickness.

Seems 3rd season of Rex in Rome is still being filmed. From the 22 - 29 Nov. Rex is on board the cruise ship Costa Pacifica visiting a few coastal towns. Made me almost envious to read the article

Great assistance for filming of Rex
Winston Azzopardi, co-producer, Rome, Italy

On behalf of the production crew of Il Commissario Rex, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who in some way or other was involved in the filming of the television episode La Maledizione del Caravaggio.

Our appreciation goes to the Malta Tourism Authority whose support was crucial in attracting this production here and the Commissioner of Police and his dedicated officers who bent over backwards to assist us, sometimes at very short notice.

A special mention to the local councils of Valletta, Mdina, Vittoriosa, Marsaxlokk and Naxxar who, as always and with great enthusiasm, facilitate our requirements, as well as to the director general of the Veterinary Division, to Heritage Malta, the National Library, Virtu Ferries, ELC, Valletta Waterfront and all the wonderful locations that accommodated us during filming and made our stay a pleasant one.

I hope readers will enjoy watching Rex and the beautiful locations that were chosen when the episode is screened on RaiUno next March.

Article re Rex in Malta Oct 09 to filmi for one of the episodes of
Rex 3, the other episodes were filmed in Rome.

Article - Rex, the intelligent German Shepherd, is lapping it up in a villa in the north of Malta after arriving here yesterday for the filming of the popular Italian TV series that starts next week.

Italian production house Leader Production will be filming the episode from the third series that has been specifically scripted to be set in Malta, featuring Valletta, Vittoriosa, Mdina and Marsaxlokk.

The third edition of Rex, previously known as Il Commissario Rex, will be aired on Rai Uno between March and April during prime time. It features Kasper Capparoni, also the protagonist of other TV series alongside Rex, and other popular actors who will be taking part in the Malta episode.

Last year, the programme's viewership in Italy reached 6.5 million per episode. Apart from being screened in Italy, it was sold to more than 100 other countries worldwide, including Australia, Venezuela and South Africa and Malta's core tourism markets, Germany, Spain, Austria and Sweden.

The Malta Tourism Authority said its promotional efforts in Italy will benefit from an additional push with this screening, which has been made possible through the MTA's film unit and its office in Italy.

The film unit had established contact with Leader Productions during its participation in film festivals to raise Malta's profile through the attraction of TV and film productions. - end article

I was thinking how quiet it has been pat. I think something new should be coming along sooner rather than later. I will see what I can find and keep you informed. Myself, I so want to see Rex's recovery, it was so distressing that beach scene.

Belles I also free feed, only had an issue with one cat, whom we nicked Hoover, he would inhale any food possible then present it back. I agree cats are individuals as are dogs, some do fine with free feeding others do better with timed feedings.
