I've just lost my 13 yr dog to a 'freak' accident. Several days ago she started choking on something,so I tried to get it to either come up or go down. I did get her breathing again and she initially seemed ok...she ate, drank, etc. Within 4 hours she had a minor sezuire...four hours later a major one. Then ~4 hours later (12 hours from her choking) she threw up what I believe is a dryer sheet. I thought all would be well but since she was acting a little woozy I took her to her vet. After a quick blood test (she is diabetic) and checking her out, I was sent home and told she would probably be back to normal in 24 hours because everything looked fine. Within 6 hours and 2 siezures later, I had her back in. At this point she could no longer stand on her on...but she still ate, drank, etc. She was then treated for her diabetes (her sugar tribled int those 6 hours.) Her sugar was back in control and she had no siezures for 24 hours....then she relapsed and seizures came every hour or so...she was basically given valium and as soon as it wore off she seized again, eventually leading to death within 24 hours. I know a prelimary tox screened showed nothing, but I keep going back to the dryer sheet she swallowed originally.....are there toxins that could cause death to animals if ingested?
