career in animal behavior

Hello All.

I have a bachelor's degree in Psychobiology and have been trying for several years to find a career path in animal behavior, especially with pet behavior, or the animal/human relationship. Do you have any advise on what do to? I live in the Philadelphia, PA area and fear that perhaps my options are limited. Any advise or information you have to offer would be greatly appreciated!

I'm very pleased that you want a career in Applied Animal Behavior! Do you wish to stay in the Philadelphia area? There is a new master's program at the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana that is dedicated to Applied Animal Behavior. We at the Animal Behavior Center of the ASPCA are working with the university and are very pleased and proud of the program.

Hello Dr. Sobie and thank you so much for responding!! As of right now, unfortunately, I think I would have to stay in the area, but I have looked at the program at Illinois and it looks very facinating! Would you recommend anything else? Again, I truly appreciate your help!

I live in NYC (and volunteer at the ASPCA) and was wondering if there are any Animal Behavior schools in this area. So far I've come up with nothing. I'd rather not move away for a few years to get the degree - does anyone know of any schools in the NYC area that offer a program for this?

Me too! That is, I'm in Charlottesville VA and would also love to get into such a program. Anything to recommend at UVa, James Madison, Univ of Richmond or otherwise in Central VA?
