This is in addition to my lst question: but Is there any nationwide agency, etc. who can more or less force the CT Humane Society (and others, like Houston) to comply and begin to scan for microchips to reunite more pets with there true owners??? The CT Humane society basically told me , that if my "chipped" cat had been turned it, and was in good health, she could have been adopted out within 48 hours -- and I may never have known she was turned in there at all.
Sad, isn't it?

This does not make any sense to me. Why chip the animals if they do not check for it. How will owners be reunited with their pets? There is no one to look over the Shelters Shoulders but I'm sure they should be check the animals that come in. Who runs the shelter? What are their policies? Do they charge for Micro chipping? Sounds like a Civil matter.

I can't speak for Houston, but the CT Humane Society does NOT micro chip their outgoing pets, nor do they scan "intakes" for chips.

That page shows what they give you when you adopt. No mention of micro chipping, as I stated.
It just stinks that the only way my lost cat would be identified, was if she was brought to a local VET.
ALL the area vets scan for chips, and receive the "lost pet" faxes that come from the leading micro chipping companies like Home Again and others. It is a privately run organization, I assume.

PS: Thank you sooo much for your response and your input, Diane. This means ALOT to me! I truly admire you and the rest of your team of investigtors and I think the ASPCA is a wonderfully run organization in NYC. The adoption procedure in NYC is superb and was a great success with my daughter and her two cats.

when I said it's a privately run organization, I was referring to the CT Humane Society...I'm not sure I made that clear.

Thank you for clearing this up for the naysayers. It started with a post on my part to get donations for your organization and it turned into hideous mud slinging venture. The guerrilla tactics are disgusting by these few. I have no doubt they have…
