My daughter is a freshman homeschooled student and one of her requirements for graduation is to volunteer at a community based establishment. Would that be possible?
many shelters allow teen volunteers, they usually have age requirements and sometimes the teen has to have parental supervision.for more info contact your sheter or local chapter of aspca or humane org.
Great advice Ken...this is exactly correct. Most shelters do have opportuntities for teens but there are age requirements. For instance the ASPCA requires volunteers to be 18 years or older to interact with our shelter dogs but there are a host of other opportunities to get involved in such as office work, events, etc. Your local shelter would be able to guide you appropriately.
ou shelter requires anyone under 16 to have an adult. I have seen many students to do their senior project on the shelter. They have done volunteering to hosting and organizing their owne event/ fundraiser like a car wash, pancake dinner, craft fair, pony rides, and documentaries. I always enjoy seeing what project ideas they come up with.
