I have two beagle mixes, one 35 lbs and the other 20 lbs. We live in Texas, where it doesn't get too cold but sometimes gets below freezing. My question is: Do I need to put coats on my dogs when I take them on walks on cold nights? I've never done this before, but since I'm bundling myself up so much, I don't want to leave them cold.

Thanks in advance,
Laurie

Laurie- I think if you're not sure, go with your instinct. Many short coated dogs do get cold and benefit from a sweater or coat. Below freezing is definately cold, so I'd hit the doggie boutique! If your dogs are older or not in tiptop shape, they are more likely to need so extra warmth. I see they're dressed for their chat photo, so they'll probably love some new outerwear.
Thanks so much for your response, Dr. Lander. I'll be sure to take my Lucy and Chloe to get some warm sweaters since it's been pretty cold these last few days!
