There is an article from 'Dog World Magazine, December 1983' called "Battered dogs: a private violence" Some of these people learned their behavior from childhood. That is the way they were taught to "dicipline" an animal, others are sadistic and may abuse a young child as well because the animal or child cannot tell on them.
