I just don't understand this at all... There is a women in my neighborhood that several people have caught her sprinkling a white powder near a vacant lot that is the home to several feral cats....Now the part the gets me is she has a dog and from what I have heard a cat?? How could you be an animal lover and yet kill them...I have seen many dead cats myself in the area....It's hard to get the authorities involved because we really don't know who she is but I guess I'm just confused as to why an "animal lover" could do such a terrible thing

You say that several people have caught her - but authorities don't know who she is.. It is important in any case of suspected cruelty that you first provide local law enforcement with as much detailed information as possible about the situation you want them to respond to (who, what, where, when) and to be prepared to testify. Police will accept anonymous tips, but they do not carry as much weight as a detailed report that gives them something to act on.

Could you try to video her doing it?

This can be a good approach. We have seen a growing number of cases pursued because private citizens have documented the offense with their own video cameras or even cell-phone cameras. It is a start that can often get the interest of law enforcement authorities.

I have my camera but its usually everyone else who comes back to me saying they saw her again...I am going to pass the word to encourage others to catch her on camera as well....as for law enforcement they really have not helped...when I asked for there help in this matter all they said was the best thing to do is call animal care and control (which I have done as well) now the answer from animal care and control is all they could do is put the cats down due to overcrowding.... But this is a very good idea I guess I'm going have to do a stakeout I can't bear to come home from work and see more cats and kittens lay dead on the sidewalk

Hi Trisha,

Thanks for posting this. PLEASE call your local news station and see if they are willing to help investigate. This is one way to end this nightmare asap. Also keep in mind that there are many people out there who are dealing with mental health issues and are not in control so what you see may never make sense to you.

Keep on this course with your compassionate heart and I am sure that many animals will be saved due to your efforts. If I can help in any way please let me know. If you are willing to post the location of this event or send it to me in a private message I would be glad to see if I have any contacts in your area and recruit some help for you.

Again...thank you for posting this.

Can someone get pic(s) on their cell phone(s)? Video cam? If she has been seen sprinkling a white powder can someone get a sample to be tested? Are the ferals reproducing? Maybe some of you could get together and TNR the ferals? I'm just guessing here but perhaps her problem with the ferals is the number of them. It is no excuse. I'm just trying to understand. Since you say it is the home to "several feral cats" but you have "seen many dead cats in the area". If they were all neutered to keep the number down perhaps she would stop this disgusting act. The ferals have no voice if no one speaks for them. My neighbor is a feeder/breeder so I know what happens there.

Yes that is exactly what I want to ...I also think that is one of the best way to handle the situation ...I called a local no kill shelter in my area and signed up for the next TNR class. Something truly needs to be done .....thanks for all your advice :)

Good for you, Trisha!! We trapped over 50 so if I can help with any advice or info please let me know. There is a web site that shows you how to trap the ones who know about the traps as they do learn. Good luck to you. Maybe if the word gets out the woman will stop.

More like New Years Resolutions to break for me, but I plan to spend more time out in the "real" word instead of online, and to extend my knowledge of horses/animal health. I guess it wouldn't hurt to pull my grades up a bit, either.

Darrell, I did try but got bashed in the skull for my efforts.. so I'm done and I really couldn't care less about this person anymore. She is a non-entity to me. "I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot as a result, but they are one of the last good…

Folks are going to chat at the back yard fence with their friends and neighbors. Comments might be favorable or unfavorable. Such is life. From reports I've heard, you've been doing the same with people at a liddy website. If it's improper for them,…
