But I know she is in a better place now and she isn't in anymore pain. It was just so sudden. My Dustygirl was only an eight year old keeshound, then suddenly she stopped eating, had no energy, didn't move from one spot, and slept all day. After two weeks of what must have been torture for her, my brother in law that lives with me spotted a lump on her back. We had already been taking her to the vet quite a lot, but that day my mom took her to the vet as an "emergency visit". My mom came home with a painful expression on her face and told me that we had to take her to the animal hospital ER. We found out about an hour or so later she had a tumor right next to her heart. I'm crying right now, but that's good right, to get it out?... Our family said our goodbyes, my mom, my brother-inlaw Shane, my fiance Nick, and I being the family. My mom and I stayed in while they put her down and I just can't get that image out of my head of her closing her eyes for the last time. But I can't be selfish and wallow around, I have to think of my big monsterous lab mix, Majik, he was like Dusty's baby, she'd clean his ears and eye sleep off of him. We want to get a puppy, so majik has a companion, but Dusty only passed away on the 12th, so it's hard. But at least I can always look on my leg and see her, I got an amazing tattoo of Dusty when she was a puppy.

I am sorry for your loss. Cry if you want to, you loved her. At least you were with her when she passed, and she knows you love her. See if there is some way you can bring Majik with you when you go to get a new pup, after all the pup is going to be HIS companion, he should help make the decision. See how he interacts with the pup to see how they will get along.

As long as you hold her in your heart, Dustygirl will never be gone. A little piece of her will always be with you in your heart.

You are in our prayers, hanging there you will get through this, it will take time, but you will get through it.

You put your dear friend out of suffering.......that is a loving thing. You will always keep Dusty in your heart, and I am so sorry it was so sudden.

My cat was put down suddenly 7 weeks ago. I still cry, but the crying is a bit less. Yes, it is good to cry if you want. Get your feelings out.

My heart goes out to you hon.

I lost two wonderful dogs, and yes it is very hard. I was given a puppy by a neighbor who had passed away. I wasn't sure about it, but it is amazing how much I healed because my mind was focus on this crazy, highly energetic pup. You mentioned you can't get over the image of your dog closing his eyes for the last time, but think of it as peace, not suffering, content and then remember the good times.

I'm sorry for your loss.
But know that Heaven just got a little brighter. She is being well cared for.

Hi Tara! I'm doing the same with limiting the carrots and apples - in fact I've totally cut them out for the moment as my rabbit is on a diet. It's not doing much good as she's still a bit podgy! Ha ha! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who gets…
