My dog is incredibly sweet-natured and I love her to death but...
She is shy around people she doesn't know and when I found her she was very malnurished and dirty. I guess I'm just wondering if you can actually tell what kind of abuse a dog has gone through by their behavior. I suppose it could just be her personality but...she always seeks my permission before she does ANYTHING (including just drinking out of her water dish). I have to encourage her to walk on her leash a little faster because she tends to lag behind a lot. But if I say 'Good girl' she seems to gain confidence and runs ahead. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what kind of abuse this indicates.
I don't know if you can tell what kind of abuse for sure, but I'm sure it was physical. Dosha was a bit like that when I got her, and I know hers was physical. She has the scars to prove it. Just keep encouraging her. I praised Dosha for everything she did right the first year, even if it was something you would just let go with a regular dog, such as drinking, eating without me being in the room, etc. The things we take for granted when it's a dog that hasn't been abused. She still has her little hitches, but she's 300% better than when I got her.
Finally, a voice of reason. I just hope they do not turn on you now. You certainly appear to be a decent person, and that might be your undoing.

I hesitate to post anything in this tempest in a teapot for fear getting things going again. I see some have given apologies and others have revised their views. That's better. While I was gone, it is my understanding that much went on yesterday tha…
I believe you have missed the point Barbara, once again. My comment on the "slander.." was not directed at you, however it was to Dixie, and I suppose to you by association. No matter, as you relayed you have provided the moderator(s) with your info…
