If Pits could speak to us what would they say? I think if they were capable of typing something here it might go something like this.....
Dear People;
I am a pitbull. I have feelings just like you do, I love, and yes, I am capable of disliking others too. I like it when I am loved, and treated with respect, just like you do. I hate it when I am denied food when I am hungry, when I am beaten for no good reason, and just plain treated cruelly. I am loyal and loving, when given the chance. Yes, I am powerful, but that power was meant to protect the ones I love, not for the fighting ring. I don't want to hurt anyone, and I won't, unless you, the humans teach me nothing else. Because of Humans, my brothers/sisters and I are called a "vicious breed." We are not born that way, we are made that way, by you humans. When we are pups, we look for what every other breed does, human love and companionship. We don't raise ourselves, humans raise us. We like your 2 footed children, learn only what we are taught. Are you going to ban human children, because some of them grow up to be cruel heartless killers? No, you sit back and say it wasn't their fault, it was the enviroment they grew up in. Yet when one of us, and it's not all of us end up like that, you say it's in our blood. We were bred to be that way. THIS IS NOT FAIR! Why punish us for what YOU HAVE DONE TO US? I know that this letter means nothing, it's coming from a "stupid animal", just remember that God understands and loves us, if he didn't we wouldn't be here. When you all get the the other side, you will see all innocent "vicious breeds" standing at God's side. And he will have a question for you...Why did you destroy my innocent children, when it was your sins that made some of them the way they were? Can you answer that question? I think not.
Sincerely
an innocent pitbull, murdered because of human ignorance. May God have mercy on you all.

I personally think that socializing not just Pits but all dogs is a huge importance. I work at a dog groomers and see some beautiful dogs come in that are sweet as can be. Just last week I had 6 dogs playing in my yard the sweetest of all of them was a wonderful female pit.

I am now the proud owner of a Pit Bull mix. Am I still allowed in the group despite owning a full breed pit bull?

Does no one remember PETEY of the Little Racals? I am so tired of the animal getting the blame for human stupidity and ignorance! I understand most people who get dogs, get them for protection. I know my heinz 57 would lay down his life to protect me, but since he is not a pit...he is not considered a "vicious breed". ANY DOG CAN BE VICIOUS including the toy breeds. It all depends on how they are raised. Animals are children with fur..they must be taught right from wrong, and nice from nasty. Just like a human child, if they are raised with violence, then that is all they will know. Punish the owners, not the dog, not the breed. Any animal can be a loving, sweet baby, and protective of what belongs to him/her when they need to be. They simply must be raised by a loving family, in a loving enviroment. I have met many pits in my time, and have met only 1 that I would consider vicious...That is because his owner was a jerk, who thought the way to train an animal, was to keep it in a small cage, beat it and starve it. Good news, dingleberry DOES NOT have the dog...I saw to it...now Pigg is the most loving boy anyone would want to meet. He is in a home, where he is loved, fed properly and is part of a real family. Yes, even the abused can be taught to be lovable, by any one who has the patience and heart to teach. Only 1 fuzzy kid in my house is not a rescue, and everyone of them was beaten, or abused in one way or another. Here they are part of a family, loved, respected and protected. I only wish to God, that I had the money, and property to take all of the abused babes in. Then no breed would know cruelty, only love as the creator intended! People forget who made the animals, and who they REALLY belong to. Any cruelty done to them, will have to be answered for on the other side

Hello everyone I am an animal control officer for my local animal shelter. I have had Pitbulls of my own when I was younger and I deal with all the pit bull cases that we have in our area. I have learned through trial and error that most of the time the owners are at fault. I regrettfully had to put down two today that I have loved on for the last 2 months. We had to hold them because of the court case for fighting. When these animals arrived they were border line vicious, extremely animal aggressive and had to be seperated. After months of TLC and daily runs this male and female had stolen my heart. I knew what was to come irresponsible owners were to blame. These animals had ran loose and killed several other dogs before they could be captured. The owners wanted the dogs back but didn't even come to visit them once while they were at the shelter. I fell in love with these two everyone at the shelter had learned what a little patience could do for a dog that was raised the wrong way. I knew that they couldnt be adopted out because of their past and they were ordered euthanized by the courts. I honestly wanted to go and smack the previous owners who were crying as if they were concerned. I am sorry but I guess I just had to get it out there to people that these animals don't deserve the fate they have to face because of people.

A man who authorities say sometimes refereed fights involving former NFL star Michael Vick's dogfighting operation has been sentenced to 13 1/2 years in prison.

Authorities say Terry Kendrick bred fighting dogs in the basement of his Cincinnati home and had connections to dogfighting from New York to Florida to Texas.

Judge Robert Ruehlman said photographs and videos showed mauled dogs and blood-stained rings.

Ruehlman sentenced Kendrick to six years for dogfighting and seven-and-a-half more years for marijuana trafficking. Kendrick apologized in court Monday.

Vick is a former Atlanta Falcons quarterback serving a 23-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to federal charges. He still faces state dogfighting charges in Virginia.
