My Mom has a 2 year old Chihuahua. About 2 1/2 years ago, her FIRST chihuahua died of old age, shortly after that, she adopted Buttons who she has now. About 6 months after adopting Buttons, Her Doberman, Tally died of stomach cancer. Since then, she has been looking for a friend for Buttons.

A guy that I work with dates a Veterinarian that works in an emergency clinic - she is a Pitty owner/lover - she's a good friend.

About a month ago, a female Pit Bull about 8-9 years old was brought into the clinic - no collar and sick. She had a real bad uterine infection and it was clear she had been the mother of multiple litters. My Vet friend spayed her, (they named her Flower)...put her on antibiotics, gave her shots, chipped her and cleaned her up.

Her BF asked me at work if I knew anyone that wanted to adopt her.

Hmmmm.... Mom??? :-)

My Vet-friend had temperment tested her, and searched for her "owners" to no avail.

Long story short, my Mom and I picked her up Sunday night and she is amazing!!! She is well-trained, sweet with all animals and she is getting along with Buttons famously!

It was hard for the girls at the clinic to let go of her - but she is in an awesome home.

She's a little "chunky" right now and is currently on a Senior -diet but she'll get in shape soon!

I'll post a pic of her and Buttons when I get one....

She's an angel - my Mom isn't sure is she is going to keep the name "Flower" - she's carmel colored with a black nose. She's considering "Buttercup" - any other suggestions?

I agree this is another positive pitty adoption. At our shelter there is a dog named Malibu who her kennell says she is a shephard mix but she looks almost like a purebred pitbull. I know looks can be deceiving, I failed the pitbull challenge miserably and not only do I own one, I own one that looks exactly like the one and only pitbull in the challenge, sorry I meant to say I am the parent of one. Anyway most of the volunteers think she is a pitty and just gets called gsd mix to get her a better chance at finding a home. My daughter is the volunteer so she took her out and we both played with her first on a walk and than in a agility yard. The first two people that walked by the gate she had to say hello to and than she tried it after they were gone. By this time another volunteer came to hang out with us and we all decided Malibu is kinda slow in advertising herself and maybe the yard even though right next to the gate is a little too far, we left the yard and hang out almost immediatly by t he gate. Again she was sooooo slow and tried to say hi after they left to some ppl and than she was totally disinteretsted in anyone except occassionally she would give all of us kisses and kept smelling the grass. We kept trying to force her to go say hi to everyone who came in, she was not interested. Sabrina had a meeting to go to and we actually were supposed to put her back long time ago but we kept telling ourselfs five more min, five more min. Well we had to admit by the third or fourth 5 more min time it really was time for my kid to get ready for her meeting and we were going to take her back while she was sniffing grass. This family, a mom, a preteen girl and a teen girl were on their way out. They hadnt really found their dream dog either. They kinda liked one dog but it was just kinda. Malibu stopped sniffing the grass and made a beeline to the preteen. We told the girl it was ok to pet her. Mom was already at the exit. This girls was very gentle and Malibu cuddled her and sniffed her pockets and put her head in that girls arms, than the teen joined in, Malibu knocked her over so she could lay next to her and cuddle her and kiss her all over, than she went back and forth between the girls who begged mom to come back because they found their dream dog and they both agreed on her. ever had siblings? if you do I doubt you ever agreed on anything growing up. malibu had sensetive ears because someone choped off one of her ears, well part of it so we told the girls to be carefull with that area but malibu rubbed her hurt ear against the teens hand as if to say " see you can touch it , I wont do anything" When Sabi came back from her meeting their other dog was in a yard with malibu for doggi introduction with two staff members just incase. It did not seem to be love at first sight but they did not hate eachother either. They may have played together before when the meeting was going on but when my kid saw it they were ignoring eachother. The girls told mom they just met and they cant fall in love or even become best friends in a few hrs or a few min off leash,so we are hoping they eventually did start playing(again) and she went home with that family.
Its funny Malibu really didnot care too much for anyone else and ignored them and we did not know why. She was saying "those are not my family" and when the girls came she was telling us " thats my f amiliy"

awww another pit bull, chihuahua family haha.... Buttercup is very cute. When I adopted my pit her name was Dixie, now shes Molly. I love the name and I shouldnt have changed it. Maybe Dixie??

I think Molly is cute and a cute name too although it does remind me of our shelters diva cat. See they do taping to promote animals on tv. well cats decide when they want to wake up, so if a cat is not ready they always have plan b to show a different cat. Molly was more than ready to be on tv, she had problems when it was time to go back so another cat could be shown on tv and be the next star. She did not want to leave the filming area, she did not move an inch from right infront of the camera, when ppl tried to pick her up she hissed at them and tried to scratch and snapped. It took 3+ cat handlers and a ferral hand to get her in a portable cage (cause after that performance noone wanted to carry her to her kennell or the other big room) and than to her kennell(the big room was out of the question after that perf. They did not want to have to do it again at night to put her back in the kennell than.
Anyway Molly decided she is the star and the only star cause she is the preeties and she was right just as I am sure your Molly is(second preetiest, sorry I have to side with my bella).diva also means tripple threat and thats what the name Molly means to me ever since that cats performance. No she hasnt gone on tv since yet. Noone really wants to get her away from the cameras.

Wow! I love to hear successful rescue stories, but the rescue stories about so called "vicious" breeds are the best. Cannot wait to see the pics of Buttons & Flower/Buttercup.
Susan your story just proves the point my husband & I were just discussing. You do not find your companion pet, your companion pet finds you. It has happened with us with all of our babies. Malibu knew who she was waiting for.

Hey you guys!!

Thanks for all the kind words. Things are working out great -

AND we have a name!!!! AMBER! :-)

Buttons and Amber are getting along famously and I caught my Mom and both dogs in my Mom's favorite chair today when I visited.

Half of Amber was in her lap and Buttons was on the armrest....

Both of my brothers love Amber and I'm happy to say she is a very happy dog and very content in her new home.

Everyone involved has benefited.

Thanks again you guys for sharing in my excitement.

She is lovely. I like to take in the older Pitties. However I cannot take in another female at this time. I will post her to facebook as well.
