Is there a specific reason for pitbulls to be agressive?

Someone told me that pitbulls gets a brain damage that attacks their nervous system. When that happens they tend to attack their owners because of their severe headaches. That person told me that every six months they need to be checked by the veterinarian to see if they are completely healthy including their brain and that they need to get some specific shots. I want to know if it's really true because I work in a pet store. I did a research on it and found nothing about their brain damage.

Maybe their dog has problems or perhaps this person has brain damage. but I have never read anything like this. So, this is a lot of crap. I know a bit about Pit Bulls so you can always ask me.

Bullies I vote for this person being damaged lol. Flor pitties are living breathing beings, and same as all of us can get brain damage, along with diabetes hit by cars yada yada, but none of it is a reason why they would be mean. Sometimes dogs are trained to fight, by being abused until they fight back, other times the owner neglects the dog, and does not train it, so it doesnt learn how to behave. All dogs of all breeds want to be part of a pack, Owned dogs are supposed to be part of their owners pack. Sadly sometimes people want a pitbull just to have it as a status symbol, to keep locked up or chained to say they have a big bad pitbull.
All dogs need shots, such as rabies, distemper etc, Pits do not need any different health care then ANY OTHER DOG. Bullies plse correct me if I am wrong, but I get so peeved from people thinking dogs are different due to the breed,
Flor see Sarahs post, about a neglected pitbull puppy with pictures of the environment it was rescued from for an example http://aspcacommunity.ning.com/xn/detail/658300:Topic:1500589?xg_so...
Bullies is an excellent resource as well. Bullies I am glad your still here.
Several years ago I went several times with a friend who was looking for a chihuahua to adopt from rescues. they had many breeds at many of the rescues, I was leaned on by many pits that didnt know me at all.

The person that told you this has been on an anti-pitbull web page. I am a volunteer at a shelter, I am the "bully guy". If anyone would of seen a brain damaged Bully it would have been me because I have seen all kinds from all back grounds from beloved family members to fighting and bait dogs. I have never seen on sign of brain damage. Out of 50 or so Bully's we have had to only put down 1 that was for dog on dog aggression. Tell the dip stick to check out pbrc.com you may want too also.

lmao i remember that now that you say it.i was a proud owner and raised many dobys in the past and we used to get people saying that all the time, that or the bigger the lump on the back of their skull is the smarter they are lmao.stupidity runs rampent i guess it is true stupidity is a disease and these days it is very contageoud

Although.. if you do some research on King Cavalier Spaniels.. there is some merit to the brain damage/skull size argument. It's incredibly sad.

Some breeds and habe over bred for some things like height weight and smarts. I personaly have NEVER met a nice doby. young as pups and older they have always tired to bite me others or chidlren and didnt life for to long unless they were alwasy kennled. But any dog that stays tied up do become agressive. My offence with dobys is by age three unless they are fix or nurtered, they become agressive. idk y. they jsut do. Read it up on their breeding history once before. dont remember the web site. just always looked hard for what i seeked.

Pitt Bulls become agressive when trained to do so. Doesn't an athlete have to train? That's exactly what's its like for a Pitt Bull's. In real life, Pitt Bull's are very sweet and gentle. In England, they are refered to as Nanny Dogs, because they watch children in nurseries.

Lindsay-

ALthough I do agree that the brain damage thing is ridiculous, I must say I respectfully disagree with your theory that pits become aggressive when trained to do so. They do have an inherent animal aggression tendency.

they are only aggresive because of the stupid people who put it in their genes to fight.. it's stil not the breeds fault they are aggresive...
