As a volunteer for a local SPCA I frequently work with pitbull and pitbull-x in search of their new forever homes. Beautiful dogs, strong-willed and loving, they are incredible animals.

Hey all, I am new to posting on the forums/discussion groups, but I wanted to say that I adopted a Pit/Rotti mix from our local shelter. He is 4 months old now and is a sweetheart. We are not exactly sure what breed he is though so it is a best guess. We love him with all our hearts! His name is Stitch b/c he makes a face like that little alien in Lilo & Stitch. Pics coming soon! <3

Pitbulls are so sweet. I got to play with the sweetest one at a soccer field. Some are agressive but a lot of other dogs can be agressive to. So people who are afraid of them don't. They are just like any other dogs.

Let's say I never owned a Pitt. But I have been around them. I new some one who fought them. But it was not the dog's. It is the people. People make dog fight's. The dog's any dog will do anything for their best friend. Pitt bulls are good dog's no matter what people say. Any mean person can make a dog mean. But treat a dog any dog right and you got the best. When or if I ever get a house of my own I do want a pitt.

PLEASE SAVE NEMO!!! Nemo ID# 11/6-5276 is a tiny Pitbull pup who definitely did not deserve the hardships he has already endured in his short short life. Instead of being a happy playful puppy running outside with his new family he is living at animal control, alone in a concrete cell. Thank you breeders out there who say..........."Not my puppies"

Anyhow, as you can see Nemo is flea infested, bloated, full of worms and possibly ringworm or some type if skin issue, he has crusty spots here and there. We have applied flea prevention, dewormed him, dipped him for his skin and started him on vaccines.

Give this baby a chance at life, he is so totally adorable we can't stand the thought of him dying here with us.
PLEASE contact me if you can save this baby. WE ARE LOOKING FOR GEORGIA DEPT OF AG LICENSED RESCUE HELP ONLY, NOT ADOPTERS!

If you choose to send this message to out of state contacts please be prepared to use your in state license and make sure the receiving rescue can make travel arrangements or be willing to assist with that. The shelter does not arrange transport, vetting, boarding, etc.
Thank you as always for your continued support in saving lives!

There's been a controversy over Pitbulls for years. Many people want the breed to thrive and stay as famous as ever. Another group of people don't want the Breed in America and say they're a danger to the community and possibly family. Its understandable, what Parent wants a dog that could harm or possibly kill their children and Family? But people must think, a Dog isn't born naturally vicious and a killing machine. It takes a Person, a Human-Being, to train,to teach the Dog to be cruel and dangerous. It takes the very thing that teaches the Animal to kill and fight,to actually kill the Animal.
No Pitbull,or any Dog for that matter, wants to be bad. They want to please their Master,to get those two perfect words 'Good Dog' spoken to them. If a Pitbull attacks, its either provoked, being commanded to attack or protecting itself. A Dog cannot learn a trick or command on its own it needs to be taught how. So behind every PitBull or Dog attack,is a person that taught it how to be bad or dangerous.Whenever you see a Dog Attack,it should really be a Human Attack, becuas their is no such thing as a Bad Dog. A Bad dog is a Dog that hasn't been given a chance.
Every Dog is capable of being a dangerous Dog.
Poodles, Jack Russel Terriers,Labradors,German Shepherds,Shih Tzu,even little Chihuahuas can bite or inflict pain upon a person, people just don't think they will. Also, those Dogs don't have Lock Jaw. Lock Jaw is a dangerous quality PitBulls have. It allows them to actually lock hteir jaw so nothing can escape their grasp. But a Pitbull only uses it if provoked or protecting itself.
PitBulls are capable of killing, but it matters how its treated, raised and if its given a chance in life. You can't judge a Dog by its Bad Reputation. You ,however, can judge their Owners. Behind every attack is an Person, but behind every Dog is an Owner. Once your Dog bites someone or even nips and leaves a mark,it will be judged on your actions. On how you raised the dog,on how you trained it to behave. No one will ask you if you really did it,because they will automatically blame to the Dog. So really, your killing your Dog.
Remember, there is no such thing as a dangerous Dog just Dangerous Owners.
