
To insure the safety of EVERY dog. Please ask for references from the person or rescue who contacts you and wants to help the dog if you become involved with the process of saving a dog. You may have heard of the rescue but don't know anything about them, PLEASE ask for references. If the person or rescue is legitimate, they will be glad you asked for a reference. If they are offended that you asked for a reference, ask yourself "why" they would be offended? It is better
for a dog to be euthanized humanely at a shelter than to end up in
the wrong hands.
REFERENCE LIST:
1) Vet Reference(s) if they just recently started using this vet clinic, ask for the name of the one they used before this vet - some people move because of bad rescue practices which could indicate substandard veterinarian care for their rescues.
2) If they are a legitimate rescue and have filed paperwork with their local government.
3) Shelter reference.
4) Ask for local ASPCA, humane society number or, shelter number.
5) At least (2) Forever Homes that this "rescue" has adopted to.
6) Local rescue group that they have worked with on transport level or foster level.
