We have now opened a NEW Rescue Connection Group for rescues and volunteers. So many of the important urgent post on myspace is bumped down by breeders etc posting puppies for sale and up coming breedings. We just thought this would be another great way for rescues to connect and help these animals from all over in dier need. Please repost and join us at the RESCUE CONECTION FREE PROFILE and forums catered to rescues and the animals we all love. Dogs, Cats, Horse, And Others in need are ALL welcome to become a part of this new growing community.
We hope to see you there. We will still cross post on myspace and facebook but this forum will be all about rescues, shelters, volunteers, foster homes, and resources for all of you trying to connect!
PLEASE CROSS POST ALL OVER FR RESCUES AND VOLUNTEERS AND SHELTER GROUPS
We promise you, we will fight the BSL. We will nourish the soul and body of doggies who have had a bad start in life. We will love them, rescue them and find them loving forever homes.
This community was created to form a NATIONAL data base of volunteers to aide rescue organizations and Animal Shelters in saving our Canine friends. Our main objective is to save as many homeless animals as possible. Our goal for this community is to create a data base for transports, temporary fosterhomes, homevisits and even fund raising.A place for Rescues and Animal Shelters to be able to access this list to find voluteers in their area that can help them out. If you are an Animal Rescue organization or Animal Shelter that has a transport going or needs help in anyway, then you can post the request in the forums here. ANY ANIMAL IN NEED can be posted here along with TRANSPORTERS and Transport Info or instrucions!! There will be NO FLAMMING here as we are all after the same thing. SPREADING THE WORD IS A VITAL PART OF ANY RESCUE. We are an ALL VOLUNTARY community of people who have one common goal, saving lifes.
She has had 1-2 litters already, but will be spayed and microchipped this week. Her eyes are a brilliant blue. She is extremely well mannered, and accepted leadership from a friendly assessor immediately. She is super on a leash, no issues. When she was being assessed, she was obsessed with a frog by her kennel. She is a true delight, gorgeous, very sweet.
She is very respondent to correction and leadership. She was obviously someone's companion pet and is housebroken. She will not go on concrete, but wants to go outside to pee/poo.
She is alert and curious, but shows NO SIGNS of aggression.
Guys were playing a rope tug with her in the office, getting her worked up, she was play growling but not aggressive.
We have NO clues about how she is with other animals, but they will assess her this weekend if one comes in. In the meantime, we will try and set her up around one.
She is currently staying in the Johnston pound in Iowa, which only has two kennels for holding dogs because they are normally contracted with the Animal Rescue League in Iowa to take dogs that come to them. The ARL usually does not adopt out pit bulls, so the Johnston people contacted another Iowa rescue instead, hoping they could help find a home for her so they would not have to turn her over to a place that would euthanize her almost immediately.
If you can help us find a home for her, please let us know. My number is 828-683-4316 (I am in North Carolina, but the dog and the people desperately trying to rescue her are in Iowa). Call or email (jhavana@aol.com) if you can help.

Malachi was picked up by the "humane" society and put down the same day. he never touched anyone, or anything. How do I get in touch with my state representative to report this?
Donna Clark,
St Lucie County, try contacting the Humane Society them self. write and call your State Representative, asking for answers to your questions, about St Lucie county practices of putting pet`s down, if you`ed like get back with more information and we all can help by calling as writing to help you make these changes,
Dear Lauren,
This is what I would do, if I were you.... I would tell your friends sister.. that you do have a witness. ( The vet, that helped the dog, when you brought the dog to him) I would also tell her that you talked to the SPCA and they agreed, it was a case of Abandoment and NEGLECT. Because it clearly is. And if sahe wants to take you to court.. So, be it. It seems to me that she is clearly irresponsible. To leave a house a vacant, and to have her sister clean it up. What was wrong with her , cleaning up her own mess????
I really believe, if any judge , heard your story, they wouls side with you!
This chick needs to grow up, and take responsibility.
A few weeks ago, I went to help my friend paint and clean up a house her sister had vacated (house owned by my friend) that was to be rented out again in near future. Utilities in house had been off for awhile and there were no signs of anyone living there. As I was helping out, my friend informed me that there was a dog in the garage. I went into the hot (100 degrees) garage and saw the worst sight I had never seen. It was a severely matted, feces-infested shih tzu. He had mats in his fur the size of baseballs, sores, bruises, he also appeared to be dehydrated. He had been living in far worse conditions than a pig in a pen. I asked my friend if I could take him and get him cleaned up and she agreed and said she'd let her sister (who clearly had not lived in the house for awhile) know. I took dog to a vet who shaved him down and got him looking normal again. The next day I called the GA SPCA who told me it was a case of abondement and the dog was now my legal property. Meanwhile, With that in mind, I turned him over to a local rescue group. Now, the original owners who left him there are calling and harassing me and saying that they are going to take me to court for dog theft. I don't know what to do. I don't have pictures, but I do have witness statements and he's labeled as a "rescue" on the vet paperwork. What should I do?
Good job creating this group. Just thought I'd let everyone know that my family runs a very small rescue in Connecticut. So far, we've only taken dogs from shelters that are going to be euthanized. If you know of any high-kill shelters in Connecticut, feel free to send me a message. We usually only foster a max of 2 animals at a time. So far we haven't found any cats that are going to be euthanized, but we could probably foster a few if we did.
Thanks and everyone keep up the good work!!!,
Drew

i totally agree that all dogs, whatever the breed, should be on a leash. i had a german shepard for 13 years and he was a gentle giant and very well trained. i had a pure pitbull for 10 years and she also was a gentle, sweet dog. i now have a pitbul…
