Just a word of caution about transporting into NH. Read below:

Subject: [MSDogRescue] FYI/Transport into NH

PERMISSION TO CROSS POST!!!

Effective July 1 New Hampshire put into effect a law requiring everyone
who
transports dogs into the state of NH to be licensed with them. This
includes volunteer transport. The folks at the Dept. of AG are very
nice
and easy to work with. The licensing fee is $200 (which is
non-refundable...even if you are not approved...that sucks). You can
get an
application online at their site. You must be 501C3 to be approved. But
they
have made it very clear that if you are caught transport dogs into the
state
without the license YOU WILL BE ARRESTED!!!! It is not illegal to
adopt
dogs into their state you just can't have them transported there
without the
license.

How sad that the authorities have nothing better to do with their time than arrest people trying to save an innocent animals life. I guess NH musn't have any theft, homicide, child abduction or the like- maybe I should move there! Thanks for the heads up though, it is good info- just sad!

If the dog is big enough, it can be seen.

That REALLY sucks! One more way to get out tax dollars! Before you know it....we will feel like "bootleggers trying to pass our alchohal across state lines!Unfortunately this fee will be passed on to future owners!I am so glad I rescued Holly for my mom from Rhode Island prior to this law!She is so happy and spoiled rotten! How did you find out about this and do you have the website where people can go for the application.

Shannon,
This was posted on the web site of a nat'l rescue group I vol/foster for. I can't imagine Rocky's purpose was anything other than to give our group a head's up. And since I am a member of the RescueTrain here, it seemed prudent to offer the same warning here.

also I dont see how it would be legal for them to stop you if you had a dog in your car. What if it was your own personal dog. I also cant see them sitting on the side of the road looking for people with dogs that would be alot of cops pulling alot of people over.

I don't see how it is legal for 2 people to kill 80 dogs, either, but it is.

also that 501C3 is an application that shelters and foundations fill out to get approved for animal care.
