Senior Dog Lost her Person and was just left Abandoned.

My papa was taken to a nursing home and passed away last Tuesday...
He loved me so much, but where will I go now?
I know I lost my good looks a long time ago,
but I still can love...

This girl was turned out of the house when her owner was taken to the nursing home 2 weeks ago. She had been sitting on the front porch waiting for her owner to come home all that time. The man died last Tuesday. His only living relative is a 96-year old sister, who isn't able to take care of the dog. The sister had been told a home health aide took the dog home with her, but that didn't happen. When the sister found out, she went to the house and brought the dog to the shelter. Baby is probably 10-years-old, has hardly any teeth, is spayed and housetrained. She is terrified in the shelter. She needs a safe place to spend the rest of her life. If anyone can help, please contact me. These senior ones always break my heart.

Hi Susan, I posted this. It was sent to me by a woman who does dog rescue out here. I have not heard anything as to what happened, and have been meaning to write Gloria to find out. Just have not had a moment to do so yet. I'll do that right now and see what she says. I had planned on posting the outcome on here.

Stories like this just break my heart. Before I retired I worked with older adults in the community. So many needed to go to the nursing home, but resisted because of their pets. And, too many times the pet ended up abandoned by the family (who couldn't or wouldn't make provisions for the pet) when they put their loved ones in the nursing home. I got my cat Rufus from a lady that had to go to the nursing home.
